Owner description: OPEN MONDAY - SUNDAY from 09.00 Till 17.00Hrs (last admission at 16.30Hrs). Ta' Kola Windmill in Xaghra, Gozo, is one of the few surviving windmills on the Maltese Islands dating back to the Knights' Period. Its origins go back to 1725 during the magistracy of Grand Master Manoel de Vilhena (1722-36). Nowadays, the windmill houses one of the largest known collections of tools, some of which were manufactured by the last miller who lived inside the mill. The site offers a glimpse into the traditional rural life of the locals during the past centuries.

Visited this small windmill museum mainly because it was included in the admission to Ggantija temples but it was interesting and worth while. There were displays of agricultural implements on the ground floor while the first floor was furnished as it would have been when lived in by the mill owner's family. We particularly liked the interactive console with information about Maltese food including recipes. The lady at the entrance was pleasant and helpful and made our young daughter welcome - she was taken with the hammock above the bed for the baby to sleep in. It would be nice to return when the sails are restored.

You could spend your time more enjoyably, so don't make a special effort to go to the Windmill, pop in if you are passing just to say you saw it!

Our ticket was inclusive with the Ggantija Megalithic Temples or we would probably not have dropped by but it was very interesting and well worth a visit. The staff on the door were very friendly and welcoming.

A look into the past and the way the miller and his family lived in the windmill house in Xaghra, Gozo.

The museum is very well organized and presented and is a charming old house.
