We live in Gozo and are always excited to find somewhere special to eat. We visited Oleander , Xaghra, for the first time in January this year and it is now our favourite restaurant on the island. It has all the right ingredients - warm welcome, truly excellent food, reasonable prices, wonderful service, charming ambiance. We go there now as often as possible. If the weather is good we eat outside - wonderful local lamb which literally falls off the bone, venison steaks, pink and succulent, rabbit in a rich, wholesome sauce - if its cold, we sit inside, warm and cozy, an ideal winter location. The restaurant changed hands in May of last year and the new owners deserve a huge pat on the back for their stirling efforts. Everything is bought fresh daily - and it shows. They care about food here - they want you to feel special and they succeed. We cannot praise it enough - can't think of anything better than a long, relaxing lunch here, with old friends, the perfect way to spend a cold winter's day.
