Gozo glass has some fantastic items and you can watch them blow the glass. Could only carry home some smaller item :-(
Wonderful lace of course, and leather goods.
Do also visit the metal work shop - there are some really nice items there

Enjoyed our brief walk round the craft village. Great to see not only the shops but the craftsmen at work - working with leather, also glass blowing you can see right up close. A nice little diversion.

To the West of the island of Gozo is the town of GHARB. On the local map it will show Craft Village. This is a must to visit. It is like a little village you can either park outside or park within. Depending on the season you visit. There are many little huts that have the most creative and artistic people who you will ever meet. They are so kind, passionate about their art and so ready to explain how they go about this art. Once you see them at work you will appreciate the products and the price. When you figure that all there products are exported from this treasure island to UK!!! Places like Harrods, John Lewis & Liberty. I enjoyed the following:

1. Gozo Glass 26/7 Ta' Dbiegi Craft Village, Frangisk Portelli Street, Fharb, Gozo, Malta www.gozoglass.com

This is a family run business and the mother and father are in the store. When you enter you walk into the glass blowing section of the factory. The sons are the masters in the glass making. When you enter the shop it is like you have died and gone to heaven, the colours and the type of products. It is out of this world. They even sell the seconds as they call it, which is where the products broke off or did not get finished. We had a lovely chat with the owners and learnt about the art.

2. The Leather House. 25 Ta' Dbiegi Crafts Village, Gharb GRB 1143, Gozo Malta tel: +356 9982 3638 / 9920 4931

Manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers of customised leather garments & Accessories. As you walk into the shop you can smell the leather. The real stuff no FAKES!!! There is a nice shop floor and you are able to peer over the side and see the alladins cave, loads of machinary and again a family run business, mother and father hand stitching the products. very friendly and willing to explain the process. You can even call them and send measurements and they can do a unique jacket for you, skirt you name it , they will make it possible!!!!

3. Ta Dbiegi Jewellery, Workshop- Shop 1, Craft Village, St Lawrence GRB104, Gozo , Malta. Tel: 21553722
www.starwebmalta.comtadbiegijewellery.htm

A lovely little store run by a husband and wife team. All made of real silver. It is amazing how this man has created, designed and made all the variety of jewellery that I saw, Chains, earrings, braclets from cheap Euro 4.50 up to Euro 1000. He can make custome pieces and the love and care put into the products is so great. I bought myself a beautiful necklace with a sea horse pendant.

You must visit this unique village and experience the pleasure that I saw in the love and care the artists take. Enjoy !!!
