Well worth a visit even if you are not a fan of megalithic temples! There is a good interpretive exhibition and video to explain what you are going to see and it is awe inspiring to realise that this is so much older and more sophisticated than Stonehenge. The Victorian graffiti and all the vandalism over the centuries puts our own culture in perspective too. While you're there pop down and have a look at the lovely hand knitted jumpers and silk scarves made by the very old lady and her daughter at the bottom left hand corner of the site. Fantastic quality at ridiculously low prices!

“UNESCO heritage site”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

I heard a lot about ancient temples all over the Maltese Islands so I decided to spend €9 to help preserve such a unique structure. The adjacent museum informs you about the history of the temple, about the way people lived their everyday life, what they were, how they dealt with everyday problems (illnesess etc.). It also provides information on the possible building process and so on.
After you leave the exhibition, you head out for the temple which is a huge ancient structure made of limestone and surrounded by crowds of tourists.
I might have been a bit overenthusiastic about the sight as I was impressed by Stonehenge but it didn´t quite meet my expectations though it is a sight you shouldn´t miss.
Included in the price of the ticket is also the entrance to Ta ´Kola Windmill.

“worth a visit”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in this sort of thing, but confess I was a little disappointed as was not as big as I thought it would be. However the museum was very good and informative and also very well planned.

“5600 years old, and a wholly new museum”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

It is so impressive to feel 5600 years of history in this place. So incredible that humans worshiped gods and memories of their ancestors 1500 years before Stonehenge, or 2000 years before the pyramids in Egypt.
And now, opened since oct.2013, a new museum gives all the necessary explanations to understand the visit.

“A special place”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

It costs 8 euros to visit this place but the ticket is also valid to visit the nearby old mill and I found it was worth visiting this site. Before reaching the temples, the exhibition gives you lots of interesting information. The gardens around the temples are pleasant and the views from there are beautiful. In the temples, some useful explanations help you make the most of your visit. It is moving to visit the most ancient standing buildings in the world.
