the ferry is about 20-25 minutes long and a great way to ride the beautiful blue water to gozo. on the way we passed comino and cominetto two tiny islands that offer water sports and diving in the fab clear water.
on arriving at the terminal in gozo there are tour operators waiting to sell you tours etc. we did decide to do the open top bus tour (through gozosightseeing green bus) and it was worth it as it's a hop on hop off service that takes in the main sights. the young woman who sold us the tickets pointed out the best things to do within the time frame we had, very helpful. if it's a fairly windy day take a jumper & a coat. it gets cold on top of the bus. some other traveller bought jumpers enroute to put on.
great places to see....dwerja bay, xlendi, and xaghra although this was bit disappointing as there was lots of scaffolding around the ancient stones. not it's best look.
a big plus with our bus ticket was a free harbour boat tour from sliema which we did the next day. that was a very good trip lasting about an hour and a half. informative captain and lots to see.

The ferry trip was smooth sailing and with all the amenities required on board. However, the terminal is too small and we were squeezed like "sardines" whilst waiting to board the trip. Advice is go to the toilet before you even enter the building as there is no way you can "squeeze" yourself in to find your colleagues if you use the terminal comfort rooms! Or use the ferry rest rooms if it is not urgent.

Took the hire car to Gozo , nice little island, much nicer than malta, crossing takes about 15 mins, from there you can go to comodo island to see the caves and blue lagoon.

The ferry that links the islands of Malta and Gozo runs every 45 minutes during the day and there are night services too. One boards in clean, efficient terminal buildings (if going on foot) or in an orderly queue of vehicles. In the summer season the service is exceedingly busy, especially on Friday aftenoons from Malta to Gozo and on Sunday afternoons from Gozo to Malta as a lot of Maltese travel to Goo for weekends - so allow plenty of time if you are taking a vehicle. Once on board there is a cafeteria, indoor tables for seating, and plenty of seats on deck if you prefer to be outdoors during the crossing. The journey takes 25 minutes and in good weather provides wonderful views over channel and the island of Comino which is passed en route.

The improved modern ferry service now operates all night. Brilliant! No more arriving on a late plane and having to spend a damp night on a cold concrete slab until the first morning ferry.
