We recently visited Slimbridge after a long gap. It was so good that we took our 20month old granddaughter yesterday. She loved it as much as we did and as it was half term so did many other grandparents and grandchildren. It was full of oldies and youngies have a great day ion the sunshine. The restaurant is a joy - reliable properly sourced food and good choices. The facilities are award winning and you can see why. A specail baby changing facility, a microwave oven to heat milk/food even wetwipes. The playarea Wellies was a great success. But the feelgood factor is that it is all in support of an enviromental good cause.

We were on a 3-night hotel break nearby, so decided to visit this centre, even though it was around 0 degrees! As over-60's we were surprised to be refused concessions - over-65s only! We arrived just as a conducted tour was starting, and we found this very helpful. The chap doing it was very relaxed and keen to talk and answer all questions. We're not twitchers, but do enjoy seeing all wildlife. I'm sure we will forget the names of half of the species we saw, but it made for a good day out. The centre is well-developed and the creation of spectator-friendly habitats is very impressive. It would be a great place to take children who have an interest in birds and wildlife. The cafeteria was extremely busy (even in February) and we gave it a miss. I would guess that in Summer taking a packed-lunch would be a better option. This is a world-class bird sanctuary and should not be missed if you're in the area. Look them up on the web.

if you are a bird and wildlife lover then this is just what the doctor ordered.
Reasonably admission price, get up close and personal to the birds, excellent and highly recommended for all the family. 10 out of 10.

Lovely sunny day, although a bit cold. Nice to see a full car park, and lots of families enjoying a day out.

We love Slimbridge and have been WWT members for a long time. It's a wonderful place to see beautiful swans, geese, ducks etc up close and the plant life is also impressive (lots of snowdrops on a recent visit) as well as the otters, flamingoes and the indoor area is also fantastic especially for children. Our 2 (age 7 and 4) particularly loved having the opportunity to touch salamanders, frogs and toads! Only slight gripe is with the food which is not only rather overpriced but not very tasty - so we usually end up bringing our own. Other than that - it's brilliant.
