We have just returned from a beautiful weekend at the stunning Lewtrenchard Manor. Our welcome was warm and friendly and that carried on throughout the weekend. All staff, from the owners to the waiting staff are absolutely delightful (including Spencer, the dog). We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant on Friday evening, followed by the 8 course tasting menu in The Purple Carrot on Saturday. A brilliant experience, lots of fun and food to die for. Each course explained and served by Matthew, the chef, with delicious wines served by the incredibly knowledgeable General Manager, Duncan. A highly recommended evening!
Our room was warm and welcoming, with a triple aspect view over the gardens. The whole house is immaculate and scrupulously clean but above all, comfortable and completely relaxing.
An extremely enjoyable weekend that we hope to repeat soon.

We recently spent four memorable nights in this delightful Manor Hotel. We were very impressed by the welcome we received on arrival, the luxury of our room, the attentive and polite staff and the superb meals that we enjoyed during our visit. On one evening we dined in the Purple Carrot - a delightful dining experience where the chef prepares a special 7 course menu and where one is able to watch the cooking and presentation of each dish on television monitor screens. Each course was explained by the chef who accompanied the Head Waiter when the food was served. The other meals were equally delicious and the breakfast menu extensive. The haddock with poached egg was especially good and my husband really enjoyed the porridge each morning. We stayed in St.Gertrude, a room full of character, which was extremely comfortable, had a dressing area and a modern bathroom with a shower in the bath, and also plenty of towels and toiletries. The manor house is beautiful, inside and out, and the public rooms are well appointed and luxurious with several large logs fires to keep the guests warm and comfortable. The owners were welcoming and friendly and they clearly have a 'hands on' approach which makes this lovely manor such a pleasurable place in which to stay. We will certainly return.

We had our meal in Purple Carrot watched as it was getting ready on TV monitors. 1 st class food with personal sommelier offering drink with every dish ( 7 course menu). We stayed the night. Elaborate menu for breakfast . We were not rushed at all ,and looked after very well.Lovely old manor beautiful gardens-even in November. Must be much colourful in summer. Not for someone on a budget but definitely if you want to treat yourself or someone. ( in my opinion)

Stayed here for one night with my husband. Deluxe Room rate was £295 db&b - we stayed in the Aurelia room.

We were impressed that on arrival, the receptionist came to the entrance of the hotel to welcome us. Unfortunately, I did not get her name, but she was extremely helpful, friendly and polite. She explained everything we needed, advised that fresh milk would be brought to the room shortly and offered us a cup of tea or coffee in our room the next morning before breakfast - a nice touch!

The building, grounds and interior are all stunning. Our room was very nice with a modern bathroom consisting of roll top bath and walk-in shower and two wash hand basins. Not enough complimentary toiletries for 2 showers/2 people though. We even had a small door leading to an outside decking area - sadly a bit too chilly to make the most of this, but a nice thing to have.

Our evening meal was delicious, although the canapés were a bit basic - included bowl of nuts, bowl of olives and cheese straws! The rest of the food was excellent and very well presented.

Breakfast service was slightly slow, not so bad to be a massive problem, but tea/coffee and toast could have been quicker. I had haddock and poached egg which, again, was delicious, although very small.

All in all, we enjoyed our short stay - all staff, including the owners, were very polite and a pleasure to talk to and the room was lovely. If it were just the two of us again in the future, we would definitely re-visit, but I don't feel it would be a place to take children - it's very much a hotel for 'grown ups'!!

Room Tip: Aurelia nice with outside decking, but at the back so no views.
