“Perfect peace, lovely place”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

I've been visiting Lewtrenchard Manor Hotel for over thirty years, more often as a day visitor than an overnight guest and have always enjoyed its gracious comfort and beautiful location. For our most recent stay at the end of April we were there for two nights on half-board, seeking a bit of relaxation after some trying times - and we were in no way disappointed. The Murrays understand their business well and know what is important for their guests: Comfort, good food, and efficient, discrete service. We will be back.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms at the front of the house

We were completely enchanted by this beautiful country house hotel - the ambience, the peace, the restaurant, the gardens and the welcome. We felt like guests in a beautiful ancestral home. Our room was delightful with large bathroom and shower - at this point we must say we were very impressed to see such first class housekeeping - everything gleamed and the towels really were white and fluffy. Thank you Duncan for making our short stay so very special and to all your wonderful staff for whom nothing was ever too much trouble - even lighting the fire on our last evening! Lewtrenchard Manor is a gem our only regret is that we were unable to stay longer.

Room Tip: The gardens are lovely so choose a room with a garden view.

We stayed here overnight earlier this week. We were given a beautiful room with a large window seat, by the mullioned window. The room was newly refurbished, and there's absolutely nothing negative to comment on, it was all beautiful and spotlessly clean. Fresh flowers in the room were a lovely touch. The only improvement would be to include tea and coffee making facilities in the room. But overall 5* and a big thank you to Lewtrenchard and the team!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful English Manor hotel. The place is amazing and enchanting and one is in awe with the wood paneling and paintings. Our room was amazing. The silence was overpowering and the countryside walks a must. Also, please do use the restaurant, it's well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in St Gertrude's... fantastic room. Very quiet.

We had a overnight stay on Easter Sunday, first time to this hotel. As you approach the hotel along a tree lined drive and arrive at the car park surrounded by beautiful gardens it really has the wow factor. The house is a wonderful old Jacobean Manor. As you approach the front door you are greeted by a member of staff who takes you through to Reception. The staff are all very friendly and owners and their son are very hands on and helpful and make you feel so welcome. We had a beautiful room overlooking the front of the house and gardens. The bathroom was so unique and spotlessly clean with lovely soft white towels. The Restaurant again was so special there are several dining rooms all of which are so nice. The food well that is also superb from the starter to the dessert just great. We then went back for a Jazz lunch on Sunday 4th May again that was great, the music was very good with a musician and a female singer. The lunch again was superb and excellent service. It is definitely on our list for several return trips.

Room Tip: Overlooking the front if possible but I am sure all the other rooms will also have a good view.

This is a fantastic find, step into the luxury of a country pile where the food, service and accommodation is at a really high level. you can even arrange to fly a falcon. The building itself is just sublime, but be careful, you will need to come back!

Room Tip: do walk around the estate

Lewtrenchard was our first choice for our wedding reception. The staff and owners made it a memorable day for all the right reasons. The house is beautiful and we feel honoured to have made it part of our special day. Thank you so much. We have recommended to all our friends and family
