“Highly recommended!”

I was searching for a place to stay with my husband as his sixtieth birthday present, and as he's a keen fisherman, this seemed to fit the criteria and we were certainly not disappointed! He spent a full day and a half day out at the reef and caught large GTs plus many good eating fish such as coronation trout. I'm not keen on fishing, but had plenty to keep me occupied: kayaking, snorkelling and lying in the hammock reading allowed me to truly have a relaxing and fulfilling holiday as well. The staff were friendly and professional, our bure clean and inviting, the food diverse and nutritious as well as delicious. We watched a movie on the outdoor screen, had a boat trip to see the bird migration, sunset and then the rise of the last full moon of the year, and were taken to some snorkel spots where the coral and variety of fish species were absolutely amazing. Our hosts were engaging and interesting with out ever being too invasive of our privacy. I would thoroughly recommend Oneta for all of the reasons above and more, it was truly a positively memorable experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the bure closest to the beach and would recommend this one as it gets the cool ocean br...

Have stayed here before and had to come back. Oneta is the full package. It is the perfect island hideaway.
Set amongst the palm trees only metres away from the lagoon. You can hear the surf pounding on the reef at night, along with the peaceful sway of the palms.
We went fishing with the host Piero and his friend Simele. Hardly saw another boat. They put us amongst giant trevally, red bass, jobfish, tuna sand plenty of coral trout for the table of an evening.
Fishing was followed by a great massage every day for the aching back then some ice cool beers.
Every meal was gourmet, mostly prepared with local produce.
The bures were clean, bright and new.

This was my 3 rd trip in 5 years and once again - I was mind blowen - The hosts Piero and Voolie and their trusted fishing guide, Fijian Native Simelie - were the perfect hosts. I rarely travel to the same place more than once ,for obvious reasons, this resort is perfect in every way , the accommodation, snorkling, fishing etc the best by far and a barometer to be used by other resorts when defining their business plans, I highly recommend this to families ,honemooners etc

Room Tip: Fitness centre and Swimming pool as such does not exist , a 10 meter walk from your burra into the o...

Oneta is the perfect remote get away in Fiji, I enjoyed my stay so much I didn't want to leave. The staff is thoughtful, attentive and lots of fun! The food is fabulous, a verity of fresh fish, wild pig, chicken, fresh fruits and veggies grown on the property.

The rooms at Oneta are amazing, crisp white lines, comfy beds with a cool Fiji breeze coming through the windows. It's had to pull yourself out of bed but when you do you'll find the wonderful things this small island of Ono has to offer. Adventure. Snorkeling, fishing the edges of the Great Astrolabe Reef, kayaking and more.

If your lucky the owner, Piero will play his guitar with his crew for a night of music, singing and fun. My business trip turned into a trip with friends.

Simply put, it's Paradise!

I can't wait for my next visit later this year.

Wananavu!!

Getting to Oneta resort was half the fun. What an Adventure. The sights u see is incredible and that was just getting there. Oneta Resort Fijian style Accomadation truly makes u feel like your a million miles away from home. It's exactly what u want to get away from the real world. Being a lover of fishing and snorkelling this place was perfect. Some of the best fishing and snorkelling I've ever seen and been apart of. The food was first class and so healthy. As fresh as eating gets. If your wondering weather to go to Oneta resort especially if your a lover of fishing and snorkelling book it

This could be my favorite vacation spot of all time! Hidden among the mangroves and palms is a small intimate resort that is Oneta. The private accomodations consist of authentic Bures with beautiful mohagony floors and clean, new and comfortable beds.

This is not Sandals or Club Med, so don't expect rooms with flat screen TVs, swimming pools, and a tiki bar on the beach. This is more akin to a family bed and breakfast.

Activities include fishing, snorkling, diving, kayaking and even a soothing massage in the beachside gazebo. Perfect after a long day on the boat!

The food was amazing! The freshest ingredients. Most of the fruit and vegetables are grown on the resort. The fish we caught that afternoon was served that evening for dinner. The cuisine was a tasteful mix of authentic regional and international dishes. And yes, there is a full bar.

As remote as this place feels, the resort does have internet WiFi and cell phone reception, but do yourself a favor and turn off all your electronic devices and enjoy the serenity of the island. I feel like I'm part of Piero's family now having spent only 10 days in Oneta! I will definitely be back!

Oneta is a wonderful resort, and Pierro and Vuli are great hosts. My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon here, after staying at Mai Dive (they were booked for our last week). I'm very glad we got to stay here too. Mai Dive was great, but Oneta is a step up in some ways.

First off, Pierro has great taste and Kara is a great cook so we had some amazing food. Our first meal off the boat was perfectly cooked wahoo with capers and good italian olive oil. Other days we had bluefin trevally sashimi (always a day old to firm up!), as well as expresso in the morning and coffee & coconut milk ice cream for dessert. Everything is super fresh. Most of the food is either grown in the garden on premises or caught on a line by guests or staff.

The facility is beautiful, as you can see from the pictures. The rooms are simple and nice looking, and have warm showers. They will do your laundry, which is great if you've been away from home for a while. A warning to those who aren't used to far flung tropical places though - there are bugs. The cockroaches came out each night and gave my wife a fright a couple times. There are also lots of mosquitos. Maybe in one of the big resorts on another island you might be able to avoid them, but not on Ono Island. It's a bit wild, but that is what we were looking for. There are good mosquito nets in the rooms, as well as a netted gazebo and one in the lounge/dining areas to hide out in. In addition to the arthropods, they have two friendly dogs named Buddy and Uma. We'd been away from our pets for a couple of weeks by the time we came to Oneta, so it was fun to play with them.

We came to Ono Island to relax, dive & spearfish. The reef in front of Oneta is alright, but really only worthy of an afternoon snorkel. It's been banged up by monsoons and bleaching a few years back. That's not a problem though, because Pierro has a nice fishing boat and is happy to take visitors out snorkeling. There were no planned "spots" that we headed to. We just headed out to the outer reef and looked for places that seemed nice. A real adventure! Because of this exploratory approach, the places we went to were pristine with great coral and big fish. The outer reef also had a good range of depths. Spearfishing was great, since the fish hadn't been harrased too much. I caught a couple parrotfish, which were delicious.

A lot of people are probably considering both Mai Dive and Oneta, both well reviewed places. We had a great opportunity staying at both. If you are into SCUBA diving, Richard (their divemaster) will pick you up with the Mai Dive boat at Oneta. If it's your primary focus though, you'll want to stay with them to make sure you go out each day. They have great staff and have more activities in general prepared to fill up your days. In contrast, if you are into freediving or spearfishing you may have a better time at Oneta. The reef in front of Oneta is amazing, but clearly there has been too much fishing pressure because big fish are hard to find. Pierro can take you to reefs that haven't been as impacted.

Staying at Oneta means less is planned out for you, but you will get a more personal experience. Mai Dive is often booked full with 8 or so people, where as at Oneta we were the only guests for half the time. Sometimes I didn't feel like eating dinner with that many other guests each night, where as we always enjoyed dinner and watching movies with Pierro and Vuli. That seems like the sort of pace they want to keep there as well. Neither place is crowded or a bad choice, but Oneta feels like staying at a friend's house where as Mai Dive is more like staying with your whole extended family.

Room Tip: They do big fishing charters as well. If you are planning a honeymoon, you should probably ask about...
