A chef friend recommended this restaurant as being the best restaurant he'd visited in France. High recommendation indeed, however, our experience bore out his assessment. This is fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. The welcome is genuine, the service professional and the food exceptional. Owner Bruno is consummate in his approach, treating all guests with welcoming humour while ensuring all tables are being cared for with an eye to detail. The wine list is very good and emphasises the local product. The terrace is exceptionally pleasant on a hot day with table settings under standard mulberry trees. Add to this a view across the Canal du Midi, grape fields stretching to the Montagne Noir and who cares what the other half are doing?

We had a hard job getting a reservation here on a Saturday evening, but with a bit of pleading we managed to get a table for six. The staff were super friendly (no English language constraints - the waiter had lived quite a time in South London), the food splendid and the wine list was very comprehensive. If you are boating on the Canal du Midi, this is a must.

We have never been disappointed with the whole dining experience here. There is a real buzz about the atmosphere (sit in the enclosed terrace with a view of the Canal du Midi) which is down the superb menu and Bruno the owner. He speaks english and has worked in some of the best hotels in France. We spent 3 relaxed hours here over one of the set menus which offer superb food at reasonable prices. Follow up your meal with a pleasant stroll along the canal bank. Booking essential.

We were 2 weeks on the canal du Midi, and this restaurant was recommended in a canal boat guide about this canal. We tied up to the bank near th restaurant and went in. We had not booked and if we'd not been raher early for lunch, arriving just after midday, we would not have got a table. By 1300 the place ws packed.
The book recommended the 2 Brunos that run the place, one front of house and one is chef. Both excelled. We chose a fixed price (very resonable for the excellent quality) menu, though others were available. Bruno and team were very slick. They professionally attended to all the guests, with great repartee in both English and French, and we thoroughly enjoyed the 2 hour stop. The meal was fantastic. Artfully and appetisingly presented, it tasted even better, and the attention to detail was appreciated.
If you go on this canal, or anywhere near this restaurant, ensure to stop here for what might be your best meal in France.

Once we'd worked out they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, we eventually managed to choose the right day. The restaurant was fairly full, but we were welcomed and a table found in the shade and very quickly laid. The menu was interesting and we enjoyed a "menu" that was imaginative and quite different to other places we have eaten. There is also a good choice of local wines. The service was excellent but unobtrusive, and the Maitre d' cheerfully moved us into a more shaded area as another couple departed. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble here.
We will definitely be going back.
