Will never set foot in this place again due to a very rude woman on reception..actually have nothing else to ad but this thing s making me write a minimum of 200 characters. Rude rude rude rude rude rude..word of mouth goes a long way and with so many hotels vying for competition maybe it wasn't such a wise move to refuse to let my 5 year old son bring his birthday cake ( as it wasn't purchased from there)despite the fact we'd be eating and purchasing food from there and having been overcharged entry for use of the pool.. supply birthday cakes do we? No? Didn't think so..he was in tears..thank you very much!

We visited this hotel with our 2 year old daughter. It cost us 10tl (£3.42) each to get in and the wee one was free. There is a large pool with a swim up bar however the bar seats are missing and there was a pool light hanging off! There is a small pool which was great for our wee one however it did have some grit on the bottom of it but that didn't put us off. There is another pool at the back with 3 water slides however only 2 were working.
It's not the best hotel but not the worst either. The staff were friendly and the cost for lunch was great at 28tl for two cans of juice and a burger with chips. There is a putting green and small child's park however these were pretty run down. All things considered we would definelty go back.

We are booked in for four weeks (been here for nearly two) and must say contrary to some reviews find little to complain about ... We are staying in a bungalow which is roomy, clean and air conditioned ... The staff are excellent and can't do enough for you ... The breakfasts are typical North Cyprus fayre which I dont have an issue with .... As a caution ... The hotel is about 10 miles west of Kyrenia and a car is advisable unless you wish to rely on the local but frequent Dolmus (transit style bus) which will transport you into the main town ...There are a couple of local shops for essentials and a number of local restaurants which provide local and English dishes and remarkably inexpensive ... £6 to £9 for a substantial main course ... It is certainly possible for two to eat a main course and have a couple of drinks for £20 ... Of you like being out on the sticks a bit then Simena is a more than adequate option....

I stayed at this hotel on a half board basis in August 2012. I was holidaying for one week with my 2 children who were 12 and 9 at the time of the holiday.
The staff were on the whole friendly and helpful, we stayed in one of the ground floor bungalows, which had great air conditioning, and was comfortable for the 3 of us.
We had booked half board, but the food in the evening was ok at best, and sometimes I paid extra and ate of the a la carte menu. My main concern was the swimming pools, particularly the one with the water slides, the water was absolutely disgusting, and when I mentioned it to the reception, was told it was treated every morning. However it just got dirtier and dirtier. I found the the receptionists to be abrupt and not very friendly.

We had booked ground floor accommodation for a 28 day stay. We arrived at the hotel at 11.30pm to find it in darkness. On entry we found the receptionist who showed us to our room it was up a flight of approx. 16 steps. This was not what we had booked, (my wife is disabled). The receptionist showed us to another room, where the roof has fallen in and left plaster over the floor and beds. The evening meal consisted of a congealed mess of meat stew, rice and pasta covered in cling film. There was nowhere to get a hot drink. The following morning we were moved to another room, which was very nice, however to go anywhere in the hotel you had to go up steps. The food was quite good, however there was no choice apart from take it or leave it. It was difficult getting a drink as the Barman/Waiter was always away doing other things. We stayed at the hotel for 5 days before moving to another hotel, and during that time I don't believe the Barman/Waiter changed his clothes during this time. There were only about 6 guests staying at the hotel, if fact one couple arrived and stayed for one evening before demanding a move. My advice is give this hotel a wide berth.

My mother and I needed to be in North Cyprus for 5 days and as she used to live near Kyrenia, we are very used to the area. We would ideally have liked a hotel much nearer Alsancak, but as we had a car and were very familiar, this was not a problem for us. I had to admit, I was dreading staying at a 3 star hotel (I know that sounds snobbish!) but we were very pleasantly surprised. Our room had just been refurbished (room 214) and had a double and a single bed. Very clean and comfortable. The lunch a la carte menu was good and the breakfast was very acceptable. The terrace area was lovely and we enjoyed our breakfasts and a couple of lunches there. We did not sample the buffet lunch or the buffet dinners whilst there as we were out and about visiting friends etc and we always ate out at restaurants known to us in the area. The waiter was very good and efficient while we were there though. The pool was very clean, and it was a very quiet, relaxing base for us. Not sure I would want to be there in the height of the season, but would be happy to go back if we need to stay in North Cyprus again at other times.

Room Tip: We had one of the newly-refurbished rooms opening out to the pool - Room 214 (very good!)

I have seen that the manager has replied to some of the reviews here so all the points I am making were made while we were in the hotel without any changes being implemented.
The staff at the hotel were very good, cheerful and polite.
The food was our main concern as every evening for dinner there was just one choice of main course. The menu on our last night was Lentil Soup,Chicken Schintzel, Rice, Chips, Salad, Fruit and open buffet which was basicly salad, tomatoes, yogurt, olives, and a large assortment of dips and such likes.
Every evening the only thing that changed was the flavour of the soup and the main dish otherwise it was all the same with the odd change of potatoes and extremely overcooked vegtables.
The hotel room are comfortable but really do need to be refurbished and repainted.
The hotel pool and aqua slides were the best feature of the hotel but even this was spoilt by horrible loud blaring monotonous music with the same boring beat. We did manage to get it turned off a few times after asking the pool bar man to either find some other decent music or turn it off.
There was plenty of sunbeds around the pool but found the plastic foam covered bases for lying on very thin and had to double up to get any comfort while sunbathing.
The beds were change regularly but the room cleaning was very slip shod as our patio area was not swept or cleaned throughout our stay and the ashtray was not emptied unless we did it ourselves.
The area where the hotel is situated has only one local shop nearby with others quite a walk away. Likewise there were only to local bars Tolga and Jessics which is full of ex pats only, any other bars were again quite a long walk away.
We always make the most of everything when we have a holiday and we will most definately return to North Cyprus as it is a lovely part of the world and the people are so friendly and nice. however when we return to North Cyprus we will not stay at the Club Simena Hotel in Lapta.

Room Tip: The rooms are all round the pool which is good but would not suggest any room for future guests to a...
