“Lovely weekend away”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013

I was a bit worried after reading some reviews, but I think as long as you are not expecting 5 star luxury, you will have a great time here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean and there was plenty of space. The decor and tv are not up to date, but we didn't care, for the price it was lovely. The location is great, on the 'main strip' of Coochie. The island itself has some nice walks, and it was great to get away for a weekend without having to travel too far. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, the only downside is that service was a bit slow (there was a birthday party on so I think they had a lot more people than usual to look after). The welcome bottle of wine was fine, and the staff were more than willing to switch the bottle of red for a white. I would be more than happy to go back to this location.

After reading such disappointing reviews for this place I wasnt expecting a whole lot for my stay. I had a deal online which was amazing value! Me and my partner stayed one night and was delighted for the amazing service we received. Our deal included a bottle of wine (red) and welcome chocolates. They even swapped our red wine for a bottle of white. Yes the rooms where old fashioned. But they were also very spacious. We booked to eat dinner at there restaurant. We got a free cocktail on arrival and the meal was reasonably priced. (what you would pay for a pub meal) though much fancier. IT WAS AMAZING. I would almost just go back for the food. If you are after 5 star this isn't for you. I had an amazing time and would love to go back in summer when it is a bit warmer.

What is all the fuss about, this place doesn't profess to be 5 star. What it is, is a hidden gem. So it is a bit dated, but the bed linen was crisp and clean and the towels were big and fluffy. We weren't there to sit and look at the walls! We had a lovely meal in the restaurant, the staff were attentive, we had a wonderful weekend.

Cant think of many good things to write, but can think of lots of crappy features.

Very old resort, dark brick walls, can make you feel disgusted depending on how you feel about living in the 70s-80s. Box TV that doesn't even work, aircon sometimes work sometimes doesn't, pipe makes a huge elephant sound when turning hot water on, microwave doesn't open properly, fridge doesn't even do its job, it probably only provides temperature at about 15 degrees or so. No bowls provided.

I was here for NYE 2012 with some friends and it was so good we are planning to return this year! Not a five star hotel, but they don't claim to be. I'm currently traveling around the world for a year and when people ask me about my favourite places back home Coochie Island is now on the list.
Great place to bring your family, nice beaches and good BBQ facilities. The resort's pool was great and had a good chill out area.
I'm not sure about the expectations the people had who left negative reviews but I will return for sure!

Room Tip: Our room was closest to the beach and had a great breeze!

The place was pretty tired and basic, but the restaurant was really good, great food. The staff were very nice, welcoming and helpful. As for the island, there was nothing to do, so a little boring for the kids.

We bought a voucher which was incredible value. To read bad reviews, given what they paid, was totally unfair. Yes the brick walls give a cold feeling and tilng and furnishings are very dated. If Jackie was to modernise the rooms, she could never get a return for her outlay and keep the cost down. The grounds are lovely and very well maintained. The Restaurant is a gorgeous building in itself. Our waitress `Pood` is totally attentive with a constant smile on her face. The food was excellent, we ate both nights and had lunch there. There really isnt anything to do on the island, but we walked the entire island, through mangroves, got a little dirty, but enjoyed the experience and seeing all the soldier crabs on the way was cool. I dont know the normal rate to stay here, but our voucher was wonderful value. Jackie and Cliff were very hospitable and I would get the ferry over there again to have dinner or lunch as a day trip. Thank you Coochie Island Resort.

Room Tip: No cooking facilities, but easy to do your own breakfast (bring with you) We were right next to the...
