“Meh. Overpriced motel 6”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

Kind of clean rooms, very bland furniture. Uncomfortable beds with scratchy linens. For $125/night, I expect better than an overpriced motel 6. Stay elsewhere. Very bland, to the point of being depressing. Non- smoking room smells like someone's been smoking here. Worst hotel we've stayed at in Iceland.

We were welcomed by name as we walked into the lobby. Great start. The manager was most accommodating. The included breakfast was a full spread. Rooms were clean and well furbished.
Spent two nights and used this hotel as a base for our exploration of the area.

The hotel itself is being renovated and not ready yet so the accomodations could have been better but the food was very good. It seems they have a very good cook in the kitchen. I'll be back for the food.

I drove the ring road with a friend in September, and one of our requirements were twin beds, and we didn't find a whole lot of options in this cute town. Not the greatest hotel, but not a whole lot of options in the area. Overall, it was satisfactory - not extravagant (this is Iceland), but not bad at all. The Snaefellsness peninsula is not to be missed!

Spacious bedrooms, which were modern and clean with a flat screen TV. Free wifi and a good choice of food at breakfast. The evening meals were good, particularly the Icelandic lamb. You are within a 10min walk of the town/harbor and there is a swimming pool 5 mins walk from the hotel. It is a good location for exploring the peninsula.

Located on a hill, it has a fine view of the surrounding area, and within walking distance to the charming town. Good value (low season rate), inclusive of. substantial continental breakfast, spacious, comfortably warm and clean room, wi-fi and a large flat screen TV with several English channels. Although the lobby is large and unostentatious, it has a homely atmosphere. The receptionist was professional and requested us to choose our room located in the old wing (town, sea or mountain view). There is also a new wing with modern decor. We could help ourselves to the complimentary coffee/tea which was available all day in the restaurant. At the lobby, was a desktop (free internet usage). As the hotel restaurant was not open, we ambled to town for dinner. However, there were few restaurants which seemed to offer similar standard menus. Various popular boat trips start from the harbour.

I wanted to catch the ferry from Stykkisholmur but it stayed longer in the dry dock than expected. But I did spend the night in this rather charming fishing village. The hotel is very pleasant with spacious rooms and some good views (except over the car park) The area is a good base if one is to explore west onto the peninsular which is very underrated in its descriptions. I travelled fairly widely in west Iceland and this region is definitely worth visiting.
