“Great rooms & location”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

We stayed for only 1 night. The room was great with comfy beds. Only 3 rooms shared the bathroom downstairs. Breakfast was nice (served on the 3rd floor where there are more rooms). The town is very small and the guesthouse is a 3-minute walk from the harbour & nice restaurants.

My wife and I enjoyed a night in this guesthouse in the heart of Stykkisholmur. We were impressed by the owner; she was very friendly and wanted to make sure we had a good stay. The room was clean and beds comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was the typical breakfast buffet, which we greatly enjoyed.

We would definitely stay here again!

When I arrive into Stykkisholmur, I had not booked anything and was very please to find Holmur Inn. The guesthouse is very quiet, reasonably priced and includes an amazing Breakfast and Wifi. The owner makes your stay even more pleasant as she makes you feel at home.
I would definitely return there if I was around. Lovely Icelandic hospitality.

One of the best things about Holmur Inn is how hard the owner works to please the guests. She made us feel very welcome. One example is the extensive breakfast: various cereals, yogurts, eggs, fruits, juices, meats, cheeses, jams, breads, etc., and plenty or fresh coffee and tea. The breakfast area is available at other times for guests to do simple cooking. The guests on the bottom floor must walk outside and around the house and up a narrow steep dirt path to the third floor to eat.

The rooms, bathrooms, and everything else are spotlessly clean. Each room is different in size, furniture, etc. Kids all seem to be housed on the top floor so the bottom floor is quieter but lacks a view. All rooms have shared bathrooms.

Some foreign guests don't understand that sunshine in June in Iceland does NOT indicate that it is daytime (actual night doesn't happen) so they talked loudly even quite late at night. Walls are thin so their ignorant behavior was annoying. There is no common area such as a lounge except for the small breakfast area on the top floor.

The wifi signal is the strongest and quickest we have encountered in quite a while.

The location is right in the center of this small town, within walking distance of everything Including the ferry, cash machine, grocery store, and restaurants, but it can be hard to find because the streets are not well marked. Here is how to find it: as you enter town, turn right at the Bonus store. Toward the center of town you will see a tall red/white communications tower. Turn left and pass to the right side of the tower. Holmur Inn is just beyond the tower, the second house from the end on the left side. Have the website photo in mind.

Room Tip: Kids, breakfast, and views are on the top floor. Bottom floor rooms have closer parking.

This place is super clean and charming. We stayed in the back and shared 2 bathrooms with 3 other rooms. The owner is the most friendly and helpful I have met on my trip!!! There is a shared kitchen, so you can cook yourself up a meal, but the town has good restaurants too. I found the morning to be a little loud because once someone wakes up and walks around or flushes the toilet I can hear it...but I found that to be the case with most of the guesthouses. Still a great place to stay...and I breakfast was great too! She was the only one that offered so many cheeses and fruits! She even had non lactulose milk and organic cereal.

This B&B located right in the middle of a most attractive village is a real bargain. The owner could not have been more congenial and helpful, even offering us food to take for lunches on our day excursions. The rooms and bathrooms could not be cleaner. Stykkisholmur is an excellent location for exploring the area and the SeaTours trips on the bay are great.

We were pleasantly surprised by this small quiet B&B. Very clean, nice bathrooms and the room was simple, clean, and the bed comfy. We thought the price was very reasonable.

We arrived late in the evening after getting stuck on the road, but the owner was very friendly, and even offered us to help ourselves to cheese and crackers in the fridge which was very nice since we'd missed dinner. There is a full kitchen available for guest use. Breakfast was simple: cereal, hard boiled eggs, cold cuts, fruit, crackers etc.

The harbor and 'downtown' Stykkisholmur are a block or two from the B&B which is an easy convenient walk. Ample parking for the B&B right behind the house.

Negatives are you have to pay in cash and the place was a little difficult to find. It's a home in a neighborhood with no signage and we ended up knocking on a couple doors before we found the right place. A sign would really help.
