Description: Narfeyrarstofa restaurant and café is the oldest operating restaurant in Stykkishólmur. It’s a family business and is open all year round. Narfeyrarstofa’s menu features inventive dishes served artfully in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant, where utterly charming views from the premises bring life to the atmosphere. There is a strong emphasis on creativity in the kitchen, and it is safe to say that craftsmanship is held in high regard, as the ingredients are of the finest quality and sourced locally wherever possible. Narfeyrarstofa’s chefs prepare all ingredients from scratch, and the kitchen makes use of a powerful meat processor as local meat is prepared in different ways for the various dishes on the menu. From the restaurant there are views over Breiðafjörður bay’s “natural pantry”. Ingredients from there are on the table every day, exceptionally fresh. Blue mussels from Breiðafjörður are always on offer when in season. The menu also has a selection of hamburgers, proclaimed to be “the real deal”, “juicy” and “even better than búllaburgers” by our guests, who come back for them again and again! Our wine menu is unusually diverse and features specially selected wines of various types. The restaurant is in a two-storey house built in 1906 in the heart of Stykkishólmur, by the old church that towers over Aðalgata. There is room for 70 people indoors, and it’s also possible to sit outside when the weather’s nice. The atmosphere at Narfeyrarstofa is warm and welcoming, and the staff and the owners do everything they can to provide outstanding service to their guests.

“Excellent freshly prepared meal”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

A cozy restaurant near the port in Stykkisholmur. The atmosphere was one of mature bikers, families and tourists. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal and the atmosphere. There are not a lot of choices for eating in town and prices are on the higher side, as in many sit-down restaurants in Iceland. We had a simple yet filling meal and enjoyed the fresh ingredients. The bread and fresh butter were excellent. The dessert choices were very tasty.

“Delicious lamb and white beer”
Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

This is one of the three restaurants in Stykkisholmur. Since it was full inside and we hadn't reserved a table in advance, the waiters were so kind to let us have dinner on the small terrace at sunset. It was a bit cold, but the food was so good that it was worth it!

I'd especially recommend the lamb and the local white beer (both sold at an honest price), but also mussels are supposed to be a delicacy.

“Great food”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

The salad and the soup that I had were simply great. My table mates had some of the most delicious desserts ever. The ambiance was good. The interior was cozy. It felt like I was dining at my grandmother's house. The only downside to the meal was the waitstaff. The servers did not make eye contact and were not very helpful at accommodating changes to the menu. The restaurant was full and there were not enough servers. We had to wait too long for our food.

“Bad service but the food is worth a visit”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

The service has several issues, the servers need proper training. The Klofningur sampler and the fish soup I had where delicious. The bathroom similiar to what you'd expect in a gas station.
