The rooms were confortable, but dinner was really poorly done. The food was quite disappointing but after all the days activities, beds were rather atractive and room temperature was nice. We had a great view from the restaurant. Missed Wi-Fi and a better TV with some more channels.

We got to Vik after a dat's travel from the Keflavik Airport. It is a driveable distance into an unpopulated area. So Vik becomes a good overnight stopping point. The small village has a couple dining venues and the hotel is comfortable. We stayed in one of the "cabins" outside of the main hotel building. It was quiet even though a fierce storm continued through the night. Front desk staff were freindly.

Our room had a distant view of the beach and the "four trolls". The room was clean and functional.

The bed was a bit soft but I got a good nights sleep - probably aided by being exhausted after each day's events!

The breakfast was a bit "budget" but it was ok - nothing too bad.

The location was good for touring the south side of Iceland.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the beach (south).

We spent here one night after having seen already quite a bit of Icelandic hotel standards. Yes they are not comparable to Western European. But the EDDA Hotel was one of our best experiences in Iceland. We slept in one of the summer cottages outside of the main building and enjoyed perfect silence and a very good sleep. The rooms are equipped with own bathrooms, television and all the things you need. Breakfast was fine as well.

The hotel is directly located on the ring road and the stop-over of choice in Southern Iceland from East to West or vice versa.

Room Tip: Try to get a summer cottage, you will have a great view on the beach.

After having stayed at a very substandard Hotel Edda in Hofn last night [no TV, no telephone, no coffee machine, no Wi-Fi, etc] everyone on the tour was upset to discover that we had been booked at yet another Hotel Edda in Vik. Fortunately, the two hotels could not have been more different. In Vik, the rooms were specious and ultra modern - with TV, Wi-Fi, coffee machine, etc. Indeed, in contrast to every other hotel I've stayed in while in Iceland - where I was provided with one tea bag, one creamer, one packet of sugar - the Hotel Edda in Vik provided two tea bags, two creamers, etc. It's not a luxury hotel, but it's a very good hotel indeed!

The hotel is still being built! There was a tower crane next to reception. However, it did not bother us as we were given a room on the ground floor facing the main road. The room included breakfast which was buffet style. Good seafood and breads. The hotel is very conveniently located on the ring road and is within walking distance of the sea and black sand beach. Bathroom was tiny and anyone taller than 6ft will have a problem. Room was clean and comfortable. No noise from the main road which is a some 200m away. A cafe and restaurant plus good souvenir shop located by the main road and therefore within walking distance.

Room Tip: Make sure that your room does not face the tower crane and building site!

I booked in May for July and this hotel was the only one in the south with rooms available. Thanks to the extension very recently built, it now has an increased capacity. We had a room on the second floor in the corner overlooking the beach and the hill, a superb view through large glass panels, everything was new, quite modern and perfectly operational. Some parts of this building were not yet decorated.
