“Wonderful guest house in an excellent location”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Excellent guesthouse on a working farm run by a lovely family. The rooms are clean and comfortable, many with private bathrooms. Views over the fields with new lambs, the glacier and the sea on the two horizons. Good insulation between rooms. The buffet breakfast has a lot of variety, including meat selections, eggs, fruit, and their own milk. The hosts are excellent cooks and dinner is really a treat--highly recommend signing up for this. The hosts also have good advice on what to see locally. From them, we learned that we could drive up to the foot of the Solheimajokull Glacier only a few kms down the road, and walk to the glacier within 15 min. The Skogar folk museum and waterfall, the Dyrholaey cliffs, and horseback riding are all right nearby. And, it's possible to drive to Jokulsarlon (and/or Skaftafell) and back in a single day. All in all, a great base in South Iceland--we stayed 2 nights and will certainly come back again.

We travelled in May 2013 and as the place was fairly quiet we were lucky enough to receive an upgrade from the private room/shared bathroom we had booked to a private bathroom with our room which was in the new block of the farm. The room had been well thought through with an extremely comfortable double bed, arm chair, two tables, shelves, hairdryer included in the bathroom as well as towels and bedding provided. The breakfast was included and was a selection of self service cereal, juices, tea, coffee, toast, crackers, spreads, cheese, ham, salami as well as fruit and biscuits. There was wifi available in the room, and there was a spacious common room in the new block with very basic facilities for making a cup of tea/coffee. Even though it is a working farm the place was very quiet, and there was a friendly dog to greet us outside the reception. The owners were really helpful in suggesting a few things to see and do in the area. We could quite happily have stayed here for longer than the one night we had planned. Can highly recommend if you're looking for a base in this area of Iceland.
