Almost at the end of our touring holiday we stayed here for one night.Having been in Iceland for over a week we had the measure of Icelandic quality and welcome ... but this took another step forward! The accommodation was exceedingly clean and comfortable ... a bit like staying in someone's guest room. A mmory foam matress made for a very comfortable nights sleep! Breakfast was a special treat with freshly prepared pancakes and freshly baked rolls. Vik beach is not far away for photo opportunities and there are a couple of scenic outlooks which are easily accessable within a short distance. It's 3 hours or so from here to Jokulsarlon Glacier so there and back in a day is achievable.

We stayed here for two nights in room 1. The room was spotlessly clean and simply decorated. We had a very warm welcome, complete with homemade cake and tea/coffee. The breakfast was gorgeous, with freshly cooked pancakes and freshly baked bread. It was nice to meet other guests around the breakfast table and chat to them about places to see. Overall we had a lovely stay here and it was great value for money.

Our family of 7 adults travelled through an Iceland windstorm (which we later found out was hurricane force level 1) to arrive at the calm oasis called Grand Guesthouse Gardakot. Eva greeted us with a warm smile and showed us into the most delightful stone cottage that was to be our shelter from the storm overnight. She offered us coffee, cake and a perfect suggestion of where to go for dinner in Vik (Halldorskaffi - great pizza!). Eva is an artist, amongst her many talents, and one of the first things you notice is her exceptional painting of the old man who previously owned this farm - a connection with history. The second thing we noticed later on was how incredibly comfortable the beds were. I agree with Bernadette, it was like sleeping on a cloud. The third highlight was the incredible breakfast she prepared for our enjoyment the next morning. And finally, before we left, Eva checked the weather reports out of concern for our safety. She suggested we remain near Vik until the winds died down on our route north, and directed us to the nearby Dyrholaey Arch and the Vik Basalt cliffs where we spent 3 lovely hours exploring. Thank you Eva, your hospitality was THE BEST!!!

A super friendly, cosy B&B with a wonderful breakfast (including delicious pancakes), cake on the table and serene interior design. We stayed three nights and were very sorry to leave. We used the lovely kitchen for two of our three nights which helped keep costs down. We stayed in a range of accommodation on our 12 day trip, including some of the expensive hotels, and this was the best place.

From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. We were greeted warmly with tea, coffee and cake and given a tour of the house. The guesthouse is very clean and tidy, the bedroom was cozy and Eva is just a sweetheart. She is full of information and always has a smile on her face. She makes an amazing spread for breakfast, which is served family style for all of the guests to share together. Absolutely loved the stay and hope to be back.

While this guesthouse is only a couple years old, when you walk in, it feels brand new. It's warm, clean, inviting, and there's always plenty of tea/coffee and cake to be had!

The rooms were spacious and clean. The bathrooms were immaculate. Our room was on the second floor, which shares a bathroom with the other room, and we didn't even notice the other guests. Eva makes sure all her guests feel at home.

The beds are like sleeping on clouds, which made it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning for the amazing spread that Eva offers for breakfast. Lunch is hard to come by in the South region of Iceland, so we made sure to pack away as many of her homemade pancakes, jams, and rolls as we possibly could.

I'm not sure how she manages to run the guesthouse with such precision and care, with two sons and a farm of sheep to tend to. All the while, she makes sure that your stay is a great one. She's incredibly kind and friendly, and, if you're like us, you'll be sad to leave.

Room Tip: They are all great rooms

Very warm welcome, you feel immediately home, we received tea or coffee ( you can take whenever you want), a peace of delicious cake and could ask a lot of questions. The lady gave us some local information that you could never ever find in any book. The rooms were good decorated and very spacious, clean, there was a shared dining place where we could cook, whatch even tv ( even if we had one at our room too) and chat with the other guests with a nice cup of coffee. Breakfast was heaven with homemade bread, scones, pancakes, jams,... juices, fruit,... Realy excellent! The lady was very very helpfull, so friendly and even made some phone calls for us. Such a warm guesthouse, the best I've ever had!
