This felt a bit like an American-style motel but in a very beautiful setting, just at the foot of the mountains. It is an approximately 5-10 minutes’ drive from town (Vik). Rooms were comfortable, very spacious and included free wifi. There are also four hot tubs you can use at any time of the day or night. They even brought us drinks while we were in it… very nice!!! The restaurant in the hotel is a bit pricey but food is excellent.

This was my favorite hotel on our trip. Mostly because the staff was so friendly and accommodating. When we checked in, there were a few vacancies. So they allowed us to have an extra room to be more comfortable-- at no additional cost. That won big points! Dinner was very good. There was a very large spread for breakfast. Wifi worked well. I was very comfortable there.

Very basic place more like a barn actually. Room was ok. Nothing fancy about this place. Pretty pricey considering what it looked like. Outdoor tubs. WI-FI was spotty at best. Restaurant was pretty pricey also. We had the chicken breast and rice with soup and two drinks and the price was about 90 bucks. Good location. There is no other place to eat close by except for a small place in Vik. There is a gas station there and they do serve some food.

We stayed in Vik because it was the end of a long day’s drive from the Keflavik airport, very near Solheimajokull where we had the glacier walk and a good base to explore Dyrholaey and Reynisfjara.
Hotel Hofdabrekka is just outside the town centre. The hotel consisted of several buildings. The reception and the dining room were in one building. The rooms were on the different buildings. We stayed there for 2 nights. There were outdoor hot tubs but we did not use them. The rooms were spacious with wooden panels, bed was comfortable, linens and pillows were soft, and the bathroom was clean. Wi-Fi signal was strong in the rooms. We had a nice view sea and the mountains from our window. It was very quiet the first night. However on the second night, when the weather changed dramatically, we could hear the rain pounding the roof and the wind howling the whole night. But I guess that is expected in a very open area. We had to walk in the open when we went for breakfast.
Breakfast was good and had lots of choices including a home baked bread. However, at night, we had to go to Vik since dinner in the hotel’s restaurant was expensive. The staff were friendly and helpful. Despite having a restaurant in the hotel, they still recommended a couple of restaurant to in Vik to choose from.
This is the most expensive hotel I stayed in Iceland. However, if you are staying in the area, you should give this one a try.

We did like Hofdabrekka because of its spacious position and close to the many attractions of Vik, especially the black beaches and cliff walks. The room we had was an older one, with the wood panelled walls, it was roomy enough, very clean and comfortable. there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We stayed two nights, but next time we'll stay at other places along the coast because we travelled great distances, and back again , to see other attractions like the 'ice lagoon', which is north. So next time we'll plan better and stay close to attractions instead of backtracking to Vik. Dinner in the hotel dining room was good and fresh but don't expect fine dining even though it is pricey. Breakfasts are pure Icelandic fare, and good if you like that. We wished for a fried egg option but there is none. Not a relaxing breakfast either as the dining room is big and very many people. Not ideal, but they seem to cater mainly for huge groups. We would return, but think that one night is enough for Vik.

Checked in and went to room. I had a new room. Free internet and satellite tv. It was a dark and rainy night so didn't interact with anyone or wander around much. Breakfast was fine. About 10 minutes from Vik.

I took a short trip to Iceland with my dad this past September and we stayed here one night. There were no tour groups and the hotel was quite peaceful and quiet at night. There were a number of other travelers staying as well, but I never heard them.

We had a room with two twin beds and both of us found the facilities to be clean, comfortable and spacious. Not at all what you would expect from looking at the outside of the building! My minor quibble is that the water didn't get as hot as I would like but it was still more than adequate.

The highlight for me was dinner-- I dislike lamb intensely, but they were out of my first choice so I gave it a try. It ended up being one the best meals I have ever had. Absolutely delicious.

Loved the friendly dogs and the hotel staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions and also patient with our attempts to pronounce Icelandic words! A very nice stay overall.
