3 hour - Snowmobile Glacier Tour...AMAZING - must have been a top 10 day of my life. It was an overload of senses...Had a grin from ear to ear from start to end. We were blessed with 24" of snow so we were able to ride up the glacier and make new tracks all over. Great tour guides...lots of a fun a MUST DO!!!!

“Super Jeep tour on top of the world”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

We did the two hour supe rjeep tour with Arcanum. This included a one hour drive to the top of the glacier, by an experienced driver in a super jeep. Our driver was Ivan, who was very friendly, and informative. I was great to talk about the glacier, and Iceland life in general, and we couldn't of been happier.

The view from the top was breathtaking, it really felt like we were on top of the world, on an expedition to the north pole.

The second hour was a trip down onto the black beach, driving trough small rivers and then stopping off at the plane crash site.

All in all a great couple of hours.

“Ice climbing”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

We went on an ice climbing expedition with arcanum. We had a great experience and highly recommend it for anyone interested in this kind of expedition. The climbing area was on the smaller side, but was sufficient. The tour guide we had was great and we thought this was a well run small company.

“Magical experience”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

This company was suggested to us by our hotel in Selfoss - and in comparison to other companies offers competitively priced excursions. For us it was therefore a fairly long drive to reach Arcanum in time for our 10:00am snowmobiling trip on 12 February 2014. When we arrived, the employee sent ahead up the mountain to prepare the vehicles was reporting very poor weather on the glacier, particularly for snowmobiling. Thor, our guide, gave us and another couple the option of cancelling but having driven some distance we were all agreed that we would take the trip and see what it was like. On arrival at the snowmobile base, the other couple opted to abandon the trip and return to base. We stuck with Thor who took us up the glacier in the superjeep - effectively a private tour. It was a surreal experience to observe our progress with only the GPS as a guide. As we carried on upwards, the weather suddenly cleared, revealing an awe-inspiring view of Eyjafjallajokull and the southern coast. We spent an hour on the glacier and as the snowmobiling had to be abandoned, Thor took us down to the black sand beach and the abandoned aircraft crash site. Despite missing the chance to snowmobile, the day really was the highlight of our week-long visit to Iceland and I really cannot recommend the experience enough.
