We were there for 2 nights. Very clean and large rooms - plenty of space to lay out two large suitcases and comfortable beds. Breakfast was included, and consisted of cereal/granola, yogurt, toast, fruit, hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese, veggies, etc. Was plenty to fill us up for the beginning of our day. The dogs were adorable and the owners friendly and accommodating. The shared kitchen and fridge were helpful for making lunch. The only slight downside to the rooms with private baths was the shower - great water pressure and temperature, but the floor isn't slanted enough to keep the water inside the curtained off shower and spreads across most of the bathroom floor. Overall, was a great place for us to stay as we explored Vik and further east (Jökulsárlón).

We were there for a night. Although we arrived well past dinner time, we were readily served warm soup and bread. The soup was excellent. Warm and friendly staff who would go out of the way to accommodate your requests. Large and extremely clean rooms although the decor seemed a bit dated. No staircases involved, all on ground floor which was convenient as we had a young toddle with us.

Sadly we only stayed one night at Guesthouse Steig but would have happily stayed longer (and will definitely return). The room was a little dated in decor but very comfortable, spacious, warm and very clean. The communal kitchen was very well equipped and again extremely clean and well maintained. The breakfast was more than adequate and good value. The guesthouse is on a working farm in a wonderful location. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from just outside - a magical moment! As if all this wasn't enough, the owners are so friendly (and the dogs) and it was fascinating to hear about the reality of life on an Icelandic farm. Highly recommend.

Calm and relaxing. Friendly staff. Great lounge area with a kitchen for use of guests. We ordered an evening meal at very short notice. They served the most fantastic lamb EVER! dogs were very lovable. Great location for the mountains. Quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area.

The guesthouse was pleasant enough. I'd certainly stay their again for an overnighter if in the area.

The rooms were nice and there was free wifi too, although it was a bit hit and miss in the room I had.

There was no sign of evening meals when we were there but it was October with only one other guest in the place. Maybe we had to request it early or something but we didn't arrive until around 8pm. There's a kitchen if you fancy cooking for yourself but we chose to take the 10-15 minute drive into Vik for something to eat.

Breakfast was excellent.

Guesthouse Steig is a farm/guesthouse located a few kilometers outside of Vik (a 10-15 minutes drive)! Its location is very nice, with beautiful landscapes and quite close (5-10 minutes drive) to access the most impressive beaches in this area! Notwithstanding, this guesthouse is a little overpriced and somehow feels cold! The rooms are spacious but too plain! The hotel doesn't offer much more than beds! Breakfast was plain good! I wouldn't recommend staying more than 1 day in this place.
