We rented a 3 bedroom house. The bedrooms were the tiniest possible; I think they tried to get 3 bedrooms rather than having 2 nice-sized ones. The bedroom set up as a double was so small that only one person could stand at a time; the bed was walled in on 3 sides so the person sleeping on the inside had to crawl over the other occupant. There was another bedroom with 2 twin beds but that would only be serviceable for one person, no real room for 2. We did not use the 3rd bedroom; it had no heat. None of the bedroom had a closet, bureau or nightstand and no bedside lamps. The lighting in the whole house was terrible; everything was dim. You could only read is the sun was out and the natural light came through the windows. The curtain in the bathroom was a ratty old thing, not even hemmed; it looked like it had been snatched off some other window somewhere. As for curtains, several of the windows had no curtains which did not allow for any privacy. the curtain rod in the double bedroom was bent and made it difficult ot open and close the curtains.

Room Tip: Don't choose the 3 bedroom apartment, it's just too small.

Overall, a really nice experience. The Guesthouse is easy to access, you just have to combine common sense and google maps. Make a left onto the 219, and follow the signs for Vellir.
We were greeted by very friendly staff. The rooms were nicer than expected, and beds were comfortable. Free wifi. The breakfast was simple, but covered all out needs. We went outside to pet the horses and take a look around. Beautiful view of Eyjafjallajokull and the surrounding mountains. A good place to see northern lights.

We booked the rooms months in advance and had private bathrooms and a view of the fields. Don't expect the price to say something about the standard though. It's a basic hotel.

I would not recomend you eat dinner here. For 6000 ISK you do better in Vik. If you plan a drive to black beach, there is a resturant there as well. The soup tasted like it came from a bag (lumps included), and the fish completely overcooked with a slice of lemon for sauce.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom cabin. It was a typical all wood cabin and it was very nice for our overnight needs. It would have been small for the 5 of us if we were staying for a number of nights. It was clean but the shower and bathroom was tiny. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was very good. The view around the hotel is lovely. There is a large mountain right next to it. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Iceland accommodations are generally pricey, especially around the south where there are little choices. We managed to secure this place by calling direct rather than through websites which were asking for significantly more. We stayed in "cottage number 1". Self contained unit that sleeps up to 5. It can really sleep up to 7 if they clean out the loft space which has 2 single mattresses. It has a small 2 element electric stove of which only 1 element works. Small grill/oven unit. Has microwave, kettle and the basic utensils for cooking. Poorly aligned front door which can do with some realignment to make it easier to open and close. No problems with heating or hot water.

We booked through Hey Iceland and had one night at Guesthouse Vellir. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our evening meal in the Dining Room. There were good choices for breakfast. A great location for exploring Vik and the surrounding area.
