Description: TapasBarinn is an extremely lively restaurant where Spanish tapas tradition meets the freshest Icelandic ingredients. It is located in a cellar at Vesturgata 3 in Reykjavik's central. The menu at TapasBarinn offers over 50 different meat, fish and vegetable dishes so you can take your time and experiment various flavour combinations. A must try is the Icelandic gourmet feast which is a great way to taste the best of Icelandic produce in one meal. The restaurant has been open since the year 2000 and has become a local favourite. It has the only kitchen in Reykjavík that is open 23:30 on weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The breezy atmosphere and the Spanish effects in the decorations make TapasBarinn ideal for an enjoyable evening, a true ray of sunshine in downtown Reykjavík.

The atmosphere was good and the menu was varied. We ordered an assortment and was happy with the quality and quantity of food. The service was initially very attentive and friendly but as the night went on our server switched a few times and I think we may have gotten lost in the shuffle by the last courses. Took a long time to get someone to take away the last course and bring dessert and even longer to get the check and pay.

Average tapas, high prices, loud music, inattentive service and no side plates.

We visited on a Mon night and ordered five tapas dishes to share. Wife is veggie so mostly veggie dishes (there were a few to chose from but nothing particularly inspiring) and a fish dish too.

Nothing wrong with the food, just distinctly average and not worth the money. We've had much better tapas elsewhere, and much better meals in Reykjavik.

My girlfriend and I came here at the suggestion of another couple who had visited the night before. They suggested the Icelandic feast, which was a great sampling of fish, lamb, puffin, and whale (don't be a bleeding heart about whale, I don't care and just order something else if you're offended). For the money, this dish was very delicious and filling. It was six courses!

The waitstaff was very nice and eager to explain why dishes were prepared in certain ways. When paying, the gentleman ringing me up explained excitedly that it was a good night to hit the bars as Iceland had just made the football finals for the first time ever. Super friendly, and great food. Definitely going to go back.

Fantastic atmosphere. Great food. Well worth the price for the Icelandic meal - you get to try everything from Puffin, Whale, Lobster, Fish, etc.

We wanted to try traditional Icelandic food at some stage in our trip, but as it was all so expensive to choose just one large meal, we were very excited when we found the Icelandic Gourmet Feast at Tapas Barinn, giving us a taste of 6 different Icelandic options + dessert and a shot. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, dimly lit but also bustling. All the food we tried was spectacular and scandalous (I feel bad about eating whale)! A great experience; a bit pricey, but that's all over Reykjavik.
