Description: TapasBarinn is an extremely lively restaurant where Spanish tapas tradition meets the freshest Icelandic ingredients. It is located in a cellar at Vesturgata 3 in Reykjavik's central. The menu at TapasBarinn offers over 50 different meat, fish and vegetable dishes so you can take your time and experiment various flavour combinations. A must try is the Icelandic gourmet feast which is a great way to taste the best of Icelandic produce in one meal. The restaurant has been open since the year 2000 and has become a local favourite. It has the only kitchen in Reykjavík that is open 23:30 on weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The breezy atmosphere and the Spanish effects in the decorations make TapasBarinn ideal for an enjoyable evening, a true ray of sunshine in downtown Reykjavík.

This place is really cosy, has a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff.

We did the surprise menu, called "Journey into the unknown" and got seven dishes we wouldn't have known to pick from the menu ourselves and each dish was better than the last one. Amazing.

Highly recommend it :)

We had dinner on July 26th 2013 and we did not have reservation but was able get a table. Food was good and service was good and really enjoyed the meal. It was not cheap but worth the money and recommend the restaurant.

Great opportunity to try Icelandic cuisine. Recommend the whale & puffin! The bread and hummus was delicious as was the sangria. Does not disappoint!

My 10 year old daughters, my husband and I really enjoyed this tapas restaurant. We shared the bacon wrapped scallops and figs, trout, salmon, and split one Icelandic feast (which included a shot of Black Death). For the kids we ordered a chicken spear and a bread basket and had them try some of the other delicious foods. On the feast menu, you receive about 6 tapas, the drink, and dessert. We tried puffin and whale which were very well prepared though are acquired tastes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the staff was very friendly with great service. The price was abut $82 US dollars, not bad for Iceland (value rated against cost in Iceland)! This restaurant might not be well suited for younger kids with no children's menu, but there are choices for kids who can branch out just a little bit. This is a great place for friends or couples - romantic, ambiance, and great music.

We had a great waiter. When we travel, we always ask our innkeeper or hotel clerk where they would eat if the were going out for dinner. Not the regular tourist places, but where "a native" would go. Iris at Hotel Cabin suggested this place. On the water, kind of tucked away, we allowed the waiter to suggest our foods. We had the "taste of Iceland" deal and it was very too. We had never eaten whale before (tastes like beef) or char fish. Now just like any tapas restaurant, the portions are small and we shared them, so we did order an extra helping of one of the dishes, which hip you can easily do. Nice atmosphere. Well pleased.
