Description: TapasBarinn is an extremely lively restaurant where Spanish tapas tradition meets the freshest Icelandic ingredients. It is located in a cellar at Vesturgata 3 in Reykjavik's central. The menu at TapasBarinn offers over 50 different meat, fish and vegetable dishes so you can take your time and experiment various flavour combinations. A must try is the Icelandic gourmet feast which is a great way to taste the best of Icelandic produce in one meal. The restaurant has been open since the year 2000 and has become a local favourite. It has the only kitchen in Reykjavík that is open 23:30 on weekdays and 01:00 on weekends. The breezy atmosphere and the Spanish effects in the decorations make TapasBarinn ideal for an enjoyable evening, a true ray of sunshine in downtown Reykjavík.

“Fun Way to sample Icelandic Fare”
Reviewed July 27, 2012

We had a lot of guests coming in from North America for our wedding and we had a limited time in Reykjavik for some of them to sample Icelandic food. We decided to go to the Tapas Barinn and ordered the whale, puffin, fish, lamb a la carte with a host of other tasty dishes. The puffin was cooked in a way that I hadn't tasted before and it was really good along with the rest of the dishes we ordered. The atmosphere was noisy and fun and the place was packed. The service at our table was very good.. As for the value & the price, it is no less or more expensive than the restaurants in the city center. So if you are coming in as a tourist, just sit back, relax and enjoy the experience along with some great tasting food.

“Great Food, a Little Pricey”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

I samples the Icelandic feast menu which included Puffin, Minke Whale and Lamb. These were all delicious and on the whole good value for money.

My friends took a-la-carte dishes which were overpriced in my opinion. Still well worth a visit though.

“ok but not that great”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Loads of choice but food is only ok. Good atmosphere but the room at the back is a little dark and was struggling to see my food! :)

“Nice cozy place!!!”

Nice mix of spanish and icelandic food. The music was from Latin America, not Spain (for the picky ones). Tall people beware of the low roof on the back!!!!
