This is a tiny little restaurant that you have to know about or you'll never find it. The food and service were excellent. I recommend making a reservation as you may have difficulty getting a table. They had all of the authentic Icelandic dishes. We had the horse and the grilled cod and both were excellent.
It was one of the least expensive meals we had on our trip so the value was very good.

Where to start . . . I was the first person in the restaurant . . 6pm. . The waitress's were extremely nice, fun and helpful. I wanted to meet one the chefs . . He graciously came to my table to chat. The fish soup was perfect. I loved the bread. The main courses were perfect. The desert was over the top. My highest recommendation . .just go!

This was the first restaurant we visited in Reykjavik, and we were not disappointed. The couple next to us had been there more than ten times during the last couple of years, and told us that the horse they served had to be the best one available on the whole island. We don't know much about horse meat, but OH MY how amazing it was!

The restaurant was full, so we had to wait a long time to get served.

Waitresses were bordering on rude, we got crammed on to a tiny table in a tiny room. Wasn’t even offered water.
The presentation for our starters was non-existent. The shark was frozen solid in a tatty metal bowl. When I complained that it wasn’t edible they put it in a microwave and it came back hot floating in a smelly fluid. I refused to eat it or pay for it. The puffin was full of sinew and had to be pulled from your teeth.
There wasn’t any ambiance in the place at all and the décor looked old and tatty. No music, poor lighting and along with the poor service we got up and left before we had even ordered a main course.
Having read previous reviews now it would appear they haven’t learnt anything. There are far too many superb restaurants in the area to even bother with this one.

We went on a weekday evening in winter, so we didn't bother making a reservation, and we were seated right away as we had hoped. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and kind of nautical. The dishes were all typical Icelandic fare, which is what we wanted. We had the whale steak and the salted cod with tomato, raisins, cashews (sounds weird but it was interesting and really tasty). We ended up satisfied, full, and warm! Excellent dinner that felt like a truly authentic Icelandic experience and not "touristy" at all.
