“Lovely atmosphere and good food”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

With ambient lighting, wooden floors and ceilings Geysir Bistro has a rather homely quality to it. The service was excellent and I felt lucky to have such a lovely waitress serve us all evening. I had the leg of duck which was excellently cooked accompanied by sweet potato fries and red onion jam (which was so good I took the rest home with me). The fillet of lamb for our table was however a little bit of a disappointment with the lamb lacking any real punch and the potato purée having a very odd taste indeed.
The dessert was good but not amazing, my crème bruleé had a lovely taste but was a little under-set for my liking.
Overall, I would probably go back and would recommend it to others.

“Good food in a warm and friendly environment”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Just round the corner from our hotel, so went there on our last night, when the rain was lashing down and the wind was howling! The restaurant was not very busy, when we arrived, but there was a steady stream of guests throughout the evening. The staff were friendly and the food excellent.

“Good wholesome food”

I liked this cosy cafe. The lamb soup for about 15 USD is excellent and enough for two people. The chicken panini is also good. You can pick up shots of the local brew schnapps, brennivin, ias miniatures at the check out counter.Good for the cold temperatures outside.

“Great dining”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

This restaurant is just around the corned from the Centre Plaza hotel, (where we stayed). It looked very pretty from the outside with the lights and decorations. Being so close we decided that one night we had to go.

We went in with no reservation and to be honest we were the first so there were more staff than customers. This didn't last long, soon more couples and a small local party arrived.

The service was excellent and the choice of food was very good indeed. We opted for the fish and chips and the chicken salad. Both came beautifully presented and the portion sizes were excellent. We left enough room for dessert and had the icelandic rice pudding (a different type of rice to English and made slightly differently) - hubby said it was excellent almost as good as mine (but then he would have to!). I opted for the pancakes which again were presented nicely and were very filling.

We were sat by the window looking out over the street with the lights and the snow lightly falling with excellent food in a great venue. What more can you ask for, not cheap but then no where is but no more expensive that any excellent restaurant in any city let alone a capital.

“Icelandic dining”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Only just finished an amazing meal of shark, dried fish & minke whale.... It was a must! Food was great, atmosphere was very friendly & staff were very attentive.
A little pricey, but no more then a restaurant of the same quality in the UK.
I loved the whole experience
