After a week of eating fish for dinner, we were looking for a change. Shalimar provided that difference we were looking for. Smaller restaurant conveniently located downtown (a 3 minutes walk from hotels like Radisson Blu and Hilton Konsulat). Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Once we identified a gluten allergy for a member of our party, the chef came out himself to discuss ingredients and I enjoyed a tasty, gluten-free dinner. Tiki masala tasted a bit different than I’ve had at other Indian restaurants in the U.S. but this was prepared in line with the Pakistani recipe (not a surprise…waiter was upfront about it when we ordered). Prices in this area are very high, so I would call this an affordable option in downtown (more than I would expect elsewhere but not bad for Reykjavík prices).
