Go Ahead Tours Visit to Iceland

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 11, 2018via mobile
We stayed here for 6 nights. Largest hotel in Reykjavik they say — 14 floors. Breakfast buffet included with our tour was great. Lots from which to choose. Our 2-twin bed room was on the small side but adequate. Bathroom also small but had heated floor and rack to heat your bath towel. Nice since weather is chilly in Iceland. One need not met —one person asked for a fan and they did not have one. How hard to buy 1or 2 fans?
Also didn’t like having to go to the bar every night for ice. Free but inconvenient.
Last night had confusion about our stay which was one day longer than rest of tour group. We were locked out of rooms. . Others had problems with room too. Not sure if fault of hotel or Go Ahead Tours.

Dear rosemaryamelia

Thank you so much for your fine review.
The hotel has actually 16 floors.
I am delighted to read that we exceeded your expectations with our great selection in the breakfast buffet. Regarding the fan, we have a few of them to lend out. Thank you for bringing this up to our attention. I will without question look in that and should we need more we will absolutely purchase more of them.
Regarding an Ice- machine that is now under consideration.
Thank you once again for very good and helpful comments. It with comments like these we can keep on evolving to become a better hotel.

With much appreciation,
Dagrún Antoinette Pettypiece,
Guest Relations Manager.

We are staying at hotel and wanted a light supper. Enjoyed half price beer during happy hour. Popcorn machine full of fresh popped buttery popcorn. Yum.
Shared a hamburger. Not huge but tasty. The cheese tray was beautiful.

Dear Patti Beth A

Thank you for your marvelous review.
I am so pleased that you enjoyed the buttery popcorn in the Beer Garden and I can absolutely agree with you, it’s super tasty and a perfect fit with your beer.
I am also delighted to hear that the burger was decent along with the Cheese platter.
I will surely pass your wonderful feedback with the whole team down in the Beer Garden

Stayed only one night (actually less than 6 hours!!) after several nights exploring the South Coast in a Campervan (Solsticecampers.com— the BEST!!!) Chose this hotel because the bus stop is right out front (both Gray Line & Flybus) as we had a 6:00am flight to Paris. (See my review of Hotel de Lutece in Paris!)
Very comfortable, clean and fantastic view of the water from our 4th floor room.
Reception staff at front desk - pleasant and helpful!

This is a new hotel so room was in good condition. Stayed in a tower room view with a nice view over the city and bay. Room was clean, and quit. Sleep quality good. There is a big breakfast buffet that will suit most needs.

Minibar was empty so if you need anything you will have to buy it in the lobby which is a bit annoying when you are staying on the 14th floor.

There is a good beer bar in they hotel. A lot of people there in evening.

Al together a good stay and recommendable.

Had to scramble last minute to get a hotel in Reykjavik and were lucky to get a room here for three nights - rate was very competitive for the caliber hotel. #1 positive - Amalia and the front desk staff - could not have been more helpful and courteous!!! #2 positive - an amazing breakfast buffet (may or may not be included in your room rate) #3 - very clean well-designed rooms. #4 - good exercise facility.

Location is not in the middle of Reykjavik but a 10-15 minute walk to everything you want to see. Thanks Amalia and Fosshotel for being there for us!

Room tip: Parking expensive in hotel lot, but less expensive on-street parking near hotel. Feed the machine a couple of times to save a lot of money.
