just returned from a 3 day break in iceland staying with a friend at the NORDICA what an excellent choice we made. The hotel is beautifully furnished throughout, the rooms are modern and roomy the beds are so,so comfortable and there is an office area for anyone needing this fascility on a business trip. The bathrooms are large and beautiful containing all toileteries you may need.I have never travelled anywhere in the world and been treated like the people of iceland treat you. In the NORDICA staff from cleaners to management treat you as a respected traveller. They are so pleasant ,helpful and make you feel special Nothing is to much trouble for them. There is a courtesy bus that runs from the hotel and back throughout the day to down town last returning bus 10.15pm but local bus services are very good and drop you right outside the hotel.Iceland is a beautiful place to visit and a must is the blue lagoon where you can spend time in the outdoor spa where the red hot waters are very theroputic. Our trip from from Manchester for 3 nights at the NORDICA cost £299 with ICELANDAIR{ no food included} and also inluded was a tour of the northern lights. This morning I have looked on icelandair web site and find the same trip is £269 all Ican say is book it now you won't be disappointed. What a trip

Hotel, though not at expected standard for a Hilton, still very nice with rooms that met all our needs, extra nice was the bathroom and the view from the 7th floor landing. Two adults in one room and two teenagers in another with both rooms really geared up for business travellers. Though some have complained about the distance from town it really is walkable in around 10-15 minutes. Why anyone would go to a country like Iceland if they are not wiling to walk short distances is beyond me. Several decent places to eat near by and in town and an open air pool just over the road from the hotel.. The tours desk on the ground floor was particulary good with the staff very helpful and we managed to book two different trips at the very last minute.
Would love to go back and would choose this hotel again.

The hotel is generally comfortable and good. You may be lucky to get a queen size room that is fairly spacious with a bath tub, or you can be one of those who get a smaller sized room with just a tiny bathroom with simple shower.
Vox restaurant is one of the best restaurants in town but has restricted opening hours/days. The Vox Bistro/Bar, often short of staff, serves reasonable food. Though, service quality has to be much improved as I had the experience of waiting 10-15 minutes at a table without getting served or greeted. I simply left and went to Pizza hut next door who at least valued its customer.
The location of the hotel is close to the biggest shopping mall in town but not close enough to the city centre. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel but not frequent enough. So, in winter, getting into town is less convenient. In summer, I bet, walking to the city could be an option.

Very comfortable rooms, well furnished and attractive- decor tasteful, but not too boring. Well supplied bathroom, minibar and tea/ coffee etc. The breakfast is very good- with a wide range of foods on offer, hot and cold. Worth booking at reception when you arrive, if you are room only- not cheap, but I thought it worth it. The hotel is out of town a little but very easy and quick to go into town by regular courtesy bus (or walk)

Stayed at Hilton Nordica Reykjavik for 5 nights over new years weekend and my wife, our 9 year old daughter and myself were very pleased with our stay. We stayed in a deluxe room with a view over the bay which were nice and the breakfast buffé are the best we have ever had. Had some dinners, incl. new years supé at restaurant Vox, excellent food and prices quite resonable (at least for a Swede). The hotel is a bit from city centre (peaceful and quiet, no problem with sleep) but still central and close enough. All in all, we loved our stay in Iceland and Hilton Nordica Reykjavik !

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in September and found the service to be great and the room very clean, comfortable and spacious. The concierge was fanstastic for recommending where to go and more importantly where to avoid! The shuttle service to take you in and out of the city centre was great if you don't want to shell out a tenner for the taxi into town.

Stayed 5 nights over Xmas 2009. Fairly decent value for a still-expensive-even-after-currency-crash Iceland, at approx 80 EUR/night incl breakfast. Mountain/sea facing room, 7th floor. No Honors VIP upgrade offered, despite hotel being 3/4 empty. Biggest plus was the VOX restaurant, Xmas dinner world-class - pricey at £150 for 2 but worth it. Breakfast buffet each morning was very satisfactory in terms of quality and quantity, although I guess they don't really know how to prepare a decent espresso. The little xmas gift bags on the door in the morning were a nice unexpected touch (chocolates, CD). Service from reception personnel patchy -- some staff very helpful, others not so much. Requested change of empty batteries for TV remote, was never actioned. A telephone request for 2 extra towels at 8.00 one morning was met with the response that housekeeping only start working at 10! Not acceptable for a supposedly 4* Hilton. Housekeeping in general was not up to standard, dirty cups/glasses left in room, sink not cleaned properly, long hairs left on the floor. Biggest negative are the tiny beds which made sleeping very difficult. We were booked in a "Queen" room. Both of us over 6ft tall with feet and ankles hanging over the bottom of the lumpy narrow mattress. Duvets tiny and not long or wide enough to cover a grown man. The hotel is located a good 2 km out of the city centre and you will be lost without a hire car, this is not really made clear on their website. A free shuttle operates at fixed times twice in the AM and 2 or 3 times in the late PM so unless you plan your day around the shuttle times you are stuck with getting a taxi (10£ each way). Public buses do run from outside the hotel but very infrequent and not recommended to wait at the bus stop in the cold.
Bottom line: a good hotel for short people with a hire car.
