Just returned from a trip to Iceland staying at this hotel. Check in was very efficient despite a large number of people checking in at the same time. Our room was lovely and very clean - facing the front of the hotel with amazing views.

Breakfast was very good with a huge selection of items to choose from. The food being served was also very fresh and no matter what time we went for breakfast the selection was of the same high standard. We pre-booked breakfast at the reception as it wasn't included in our package and this was cheaper than just turning up and charging it to the room.

We enjoyed a formal dinner in Vox. The food was of a very high standard and the service was fantastic. We also ate out some evenings taking the free hotel shuttle in to town and walking back. The walk to the main shopping area from the hotel only takes about 10 mins and seemed safe even late at night.

The hotel bar also has happy hour between 5-7 where alcoholic drinks are half price.

The spa is nice too with an outdoor hot tub and the free head and shoulder massage as you relax in the whirl pool.

In the reception lobby there is also a tourist desk where you can book all the tours you wish to do whilst in Iceland - you can also book your return bus trip to the airport. This service was very good and all we had to do was pay and then turn up on time for the bus arriving at the front door of the hotel.

During my stay at the Hilton Reykjavik my hotel room, on the back side 9th floor (executive floor) was broken into from the outside by an individual who had scaled 9 floors on the outside of the hotel. The Reykjavik police offered no assistance apart from taking statements, and the hotel staff at first didn't believe anyone was ever in the room, until evidence was found. We were criminalised by them. At no stage did the police or hotel staff ask how we were, or check on our well being, although we did secure an apology some time after the event after much complaining.

This was our second visit to Iceland although we had decided to spend more time in Reykjavik on this stay.
We had found a deal via Travelzoo on this hotel and flights.
I fully expected to arrive to find ourselves in a small room with a small window at the end of some lengthy corridor. Whilst our room (222) was at the end of the corridor it was a more than comfortable size with seating area, desk area etc. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Best of all, three quarters of the room was filled by windows with views looking into towards central Reykjavik and also over the bay. The room was immaculate and everything was in excellent working order. Can't fault the room at all.
The hotel is located on the busy main road but there is good sound proofing and I was not disturbed in the slightest. We chose to walk into cental Reykjavik (although there is a bus link provided) each time. It is a very straightforward (if not scenic) route that takes about 15-20 minutes.
The botanic gardens, municipal swimming pool (worth a visit) and sculpture museum are all in easy walking distance (10 mins) as is the waterfront from the hotel. There is also a very nice bakery/ cakeshop 5 mins away as well as a brasserie and chinese restaurant (NINGS - heavily used by local young people). There is also a Pizza Hut right beside the hotel if that is something you enjoy.
The Vox bar is comfortable and friendly but still affords you a sense of privacy. The hotel has a "happy hour" between 5-7pm which meant the difference between having champagne or not . We did and it was a real treat!
We also tried out the Vox Bistro for lunch. Expensive but exquisite and ended our trip very nicely.

This was the last stop on our trip to Iceland after touring the south coast. We had a car, so having a hotel a few km outside the city center was actually really a plus for us. We got to the hotel a little early and so we were not able to check in right away, so we left our bags and went downtown. We got back and all was in our room and good to go! We had been upgraded to an executive room, just not on the side with the view. We were on the top floor with access to the executive lounge. The room was quite spacious with a separate seating area and a swivel TV (which wasn't working when we got there but they fixed it right away!). Very nice Scandinavian design look and feel and quite comfortable. We also had breakfast in the VOX restaurant downstairs which was your typical fare "Hilton Breakfast" buffets which always hits the spot!

We (myself, my wife and our adult daughter) stayed in Room 520 as part of an IcelandAir get-away break from Glasgow, UK. 520 is a large two bedded room, one a US-size kingsize and the other a double bed, so the three of us were very comfortable. The north-facing view was great, but traffic noise when the window was opened to cool this warm room was a little high. The bathroom was great with plenty of fluffy towels and lots of hot water from the over-tub shower. There is a kettle with tea/coffee in the cupboard under the TV and in the wardrobe an electronically locking safe for your valubles. Only downside in the whole room was the electronically controlled fridge which meant we couldn't use it to cool our personal beverages. The TV had local channels and a few UK ones and a selection of pay movies. The bedside clock/radio with a selection of pre-programmed stations was a nice touch.

Cost of food in this hotel was beyong our budget, but we heard others commenting on the quality of meals. There is a Pizza Hut in the building and beyong the Shell filling station (towards the city) are a couple of restaurants. Also, in the other direction is a kondatori and a restaurant a few hundred meters along the main road (away from the city).

The hotel is a little out of the city but at a leisurely pace it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the downtown shopping area.

We have no hesitation in recommmending this hotel.

view was great from the front and back of the hotel. We had 2 rooms. One on the executive floor which was for parents and one on the 5th floor for the children which was cheaper. The 5th floor room to us was larger and the desk for our computers was bigger so we swapped with the kids. They had the wide screen tv and comfortable arm chairs! The business centre offered snacks and all drinks which were as good as breakfast, and to relax in the evening together, as well as childrens games and books...well worth the access but the spa and fitness centre only seemed to be open after 9.00/10.00am to 6.00pm at the weekend and so because of our schedule was useless to us. The staff were very helpful and freindly as are all icelanders.
There is a piano in the busineess centre that can be played by guests but is not advertised so ask. They should publise this as we are musical and hotels rarely have music rooms.
It is central to the shopping centre but as with all iceland expect to walk, cycle hire or v. expensive taxi. There is a bus calling at the hotel as part of a round city tour but again in stops in the evening.

Great hotel, modern, clean and pleasant. There are great views from the rooms higher up the building. We were on the second floor (first floor for British people). There was a very strange pillar in the bedroom which put you at great risk of concussion on waking in the night! The floor we were on seemed to be a flat roof extension, so it may be cold in the winter months. The two things I'd say against it is that it is a long way from the centre of town - 20-25 minute walk - so you might want somewhere more central if the prices are similar. Also, I found it bad that they make you pay for the spa if you are not in the executive rooms. I like to swim so found this a miss. Staff are friendly, there's a tour office, and the restaurant menu looked good, although we didn't eat there. If Pizza Hut is your thing - there's one underneath. One piece of advice if you have a late afternoon flight - I'd recommend doing the Blue Lagoon on the way to the airport. Otherwise the bus picks up at 1.30 (its not as flexible as you might be led to believe), and drops you at the airport at around 3 p.m. The Lagoon might be a nice relaxing way to spend your last day (allow 2-3 hours in the water).
