My daughter and I stayed here for four nights in early May on an Icelandair travel package from Toronto. The hotel is in the business area and not quite downtown but a free city bus pass (unlimited rides on the entire bus system) was included in our package and allowed us to take a bus from right outside the hotel for a less than ten minute ride into the heart of Reyjkavik. The hotel is well-located to walk down to the bay (10 mins) and about 45 minutes to walk all the way downtown taking the scenic Shore Walk. There are a number of restaurants within 5 minutes walk and a 24 hr. grocery store which has a hot food counter called Ginger. We ate there often as we found the food fresher and way cheaper than the restaurants, plus, we got sandwiches/wraps from there to eat during our day trips. The hotel is well-located to a residential area where it's nice to walk the streets and to the City's public swimming pool where there is also a hot spring pool.

The hotel has a very classic Scandinavian (high-end Ikea ??) look to it from the outside and in. Parking is free. We found the room size very adequate, and it was very handy to have a mini-fridge. Beds were super comfortable. Free Wi-Fi. Front desk and all other staff were typically very efficient and courteous. There is a tourist shop in the large and well-appointed lobby that is great for getting maps and information from the staff person, plus you can arrange tours, tickets, etc. There's I think three computers that guests can access but be warned ... you can't print from a USB stick (front desk probably can). We did not try the hotel restaurant as again, prices plus service charges were exorbitant, but we found that to be the case in general throughout Iceland.

In summary, everything you would expect from a Hilton with the added benefit that the Icelandic mentality ensures it is delivered very well, with efficiency and professionalism.

Room Tip: North facing room, high level to have the best views.

Wonderful light, clean and modern hotel with fine dining restaurant. Everything a hilton should be....

this hotel overlooks the estuary and has views of the mountains heading north west. Easy access to the city centre and local shops make this a good location.

The hotel seems new, very comfortable but no food apart from a plastic prep-packed sandwich after 10. We could almost have waited for breakfast which starts service at 4am!
Better an end of corridor room as the people who get up at 4 (presumably for long day tours) like shouting in the corridors. Rooms at the front overlook the sea.
Breakfast is excellent, best I've had anywhere, great choice of everything. We had to go get a voucher though as we were shown to be without breakfast in their system so bring proof of what you have booked.
Lift floors were dirty but small point to an otherwise excellent stay.

Room Tip: Front facing, high floor, end of corridor.

Wonderful hotel a bit outside of the city center -- though it is not far by car and there are many buses throughout the day. This Hilton is very modern and clean with all the necessary amenities. The room was a great size and we enjoyed two-full beds and a large bathroom. Check-in and check-out were seamless and the staff was extremely accommodating. I wish there wasn't a charge for the gym or spa but otherwise the hotel was great. The restaurants inside are a bit expensive so we opted to eat in the city center.

The Hilton is perfect if you are part of a tourist-group. Staff caters well for these people. Our experience as independent travellers is the opposite. We stayed three nights at the hotel. Second night we decided to eat at the hotel's well-reputed restaurant. We were met by a headwaiter who instead of politely greeting us, informed us that the food could take a while. We glanced around and saw a couple of groups totalling 20 people plus other couples and smaller groups. No big deal for an efficiently run kitchen. How wrong coild we be. Starter arrived 25 min later, main course 90 min. later. Vox boasts of serving gourmet-standard food, this was not to be this evening. Peas undercooked, fish bland and unseasoned. Having complained to headwaiter reduction on price

Dear, traveler

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel, Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.

First of all I would like to apologize for the lack of service quality you experienced at our restaurant. I will make sure to pass your complain along to our restaurant manager who will address this matter. In regards to this hotel only being efficient for tourist groups I will have to disagree with you as we accommodate a lot of individual travelers and we tailor make our services to meet those individual needs. I am very sorry to see that you experienced otherwise but I do hope that you will give us another chance as I am sure that you will experience our hotel in a much more positive way.

Best regards,
Trausti Þór Karlsson

Modern looking large rooms with 2 big beds. Good wifi working fast and available for several items. Large bathroom that could have some more light.
Good views over the mountains. Very good breakfast with plenty of choices from the healthy to the less so.
You can get a free pass to the busses in Reykjavik, which is really great as the hotel is a bit off downtown. This is good because it's quiet, but you do need to walk for 20 - 25 minutes to get to the centre.
Very friendly and helpful staff everywhere.
Bring eye masks and use them when you go to sleep, otherwise you might have some trouble with the light in the room. Their dark curtains are not good enough to beat the midnight sun.
Most people staying are American tourists, and they come by the bus load, so things can get a bit hectic at breakfast time.
I would definitely go back there.

Dear, traveler

Thank you for your recent review of our hotel, Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.

I am pleased to see that you had a good experience at Hilton Reykjavik Nordica. I agree, beating the midnight sun can be quite tricky but our curtains usually do the trick for our guests. But bringing some eye masks probably won’t hurt. I am also pleased to see that you enjoyed your breakfast buffet and if you stay with us again in the near future I advise you to try out our lunch and/or brunch buffet – truly delicious.

Best regards,
Trausti Þór Karlsson

We stayed here for one night and thought it was excellent. All staff were incredibly helpful. Room was clean and modern and the hotel entrance hall and bar, spacious and with a cool design. There was a happy hour between 5pm and 7pm and all drinks were half price. We thought the hotel would be a long way from town but it was only a 15 minute walk and we quite enjoyed the opportunity to get some air before and after dinner! The bathrooms are small but adequate. We were a bit disappointed that we had to pay to use the spa but the biggest geothermal pool in Iceland is a 5 minute walk away so we went there instead (on the recommendation of Reception). Would definitely recommend this hotel. Wish we had another night here!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front side of the hotel for beautiful views of the water and mountains.
