When I booked our trip to Iceland, I upgraded to the Hilton because generally I can count on good level of quality and I was not disappointed.
The rooms were clean, the bath towels nice & large, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and included a decent size small refrigerator for storing snacks & drinks.
Some nights we were just too tired from hiking to go out, so veged out in our comfy room.
There was nice large television - esp. liked the option of finding temperature & weather information fast. And, best of all, the view out of our front facing window of the snow-covered mountains was spectacular! When I brought the photos home, everyone was amazed - talk about a room with a view :)
BTW, if you get exhausted from having so much adventure fun during the day, there are 2 very close by places to the hotel to get good food to eat in your own toasty warm room.
Of course, you can get room service or eat in the restaurant (which looked good). However, we like to eat like locals, so bought food choices (yummy local cheese & bread or pastries, wine & juices, etc) at the nearby (l minute walk) convenience store called "10-11".
And, we also got fabulous vegetarian take-out at the Glo Restaurant across the street (3 minute walk) and no tourists to be seen.
The only reason that I didn't give the 5 stars instead of 4 was that it wasn't downtown to walk out your front doors to visit all the sights.
But, the hotel staff was soooo helpful/cheerful in telling where to go, what they recommended, how to get there the best way & marking everything on maps to take, etc. They even gave us free bus tickets for the bus stop which is right out front on the street.
Another bonus: Since we were staying at a big hotel, all the tours we booked were happy to pick us up there so we didn't have to walk or get a cab to the tour agency.
We were very happy that we stayed here and have recommended this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room facing the front of the hotel so you have a spectacular view of the mounta...

Hilton hotels are always reliable and match the expectations. This one has a nice lobby area and good breakfast. Rooms are basic but in good Nordic style. We were lucky to get a room with sea and mountain view, which is pretty nice. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a great rate so we were more than impressed with the value for money. They gave us a free bus voucher. Wifi and parking was for free. The hotel is 20 mn walk from the main shopping street. The city is small after all. Watch out for bus schedule, there was one every 30 mins...

Room Tip: 8th floor with view

It's true this hotel is not in the town centre but is only a pleasant 20 minute walk or short cab ride away. The decor is fun mid century modern / Danish modern - clean elegant design.
The rooms are also simple and elegant with standard Hilton amenities. My only only complaint about the room was that the curtains were not up to the task of making the room dark during the summer when the sun never set. I was surprised at this - maybe in the midnight sun season you're not supposed to sleep.
I Definitely recommend this hotel.
I can't comment on the rates because HBO was paying

Room Tip: The view is at the front but so is the midnight sun in summer

I stayed here for 3 nights in a single room and it the ideal location, it was well-appointed and very clean. The hotel is a very easy walk to the bus stops (one is right in front), and it's very easy to get around. The hotel provides a free bus pass and public transportation in Iceland is reliable and convenient. There is a small market behind the hotel where you can pickup sandwiches, drinks, snacks, etc. The breakfast at the hotel is very expensive (approx. $25), but good. It is a buffet breakfast and it offers something for everyone. The front desk people were helpful and patient with our questions. Without hesitation, I would recommend this hotel.

The rooms were adequate but make sure to ask for one at the front of the hotel and as high as possible. It is worth booking an executive room if you can afford it as it then includes breakfast, entrance to the Spa, internet access, free non alcoholic drinks all day and snacks and free drinks of all kinds between five and seven. (These extras can soon add up to more than the difference in costs of the rooms and you do get a much better room)

The Vox restaurant is very good, especially the brunch on a Sunday.

The main issue is the distance into town and whilst you are given a free bus pass during your stay it is not as convent as being in the centre of town especially if you are on a short break. It makes no difference if going on organised trips as you are collected from your hotel.

The staff were very helpful and charming, and the public rooms well designed and comfortable.

Room Tip: Request a room as high as possible and at the front

We stayed here for 3 nights in December for the purpose of trying to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately the solar activity was not on our side while we were in Iceland but the hotel definitely lived up to expectations as a 4 star establishment.

The double room was of a good size and very airy. The shower was of a good standard with pretty strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. We had a room at the front of the hotel which had spectacular views towards the snow filled mountains that surround Reykjavik.

The staff were very helpful and informative on any questions we had. Although the hotel is slightly out of the main centre it is only 5 minutes away by bus and there are 4 to 5 buses that go in or come back from Reykjavik. The Hilton provide a free travel pass for up to 4 people to travel on the buses.

The restaurant provided 2 types of menu. A light one for those people having trips in the evening after 8:00pm. It also had an a la carte menu. This would be our only real gripe in that we had a booked a table at 8:00pm for our final night with the intention of having a 3 course dinner from the a la carte menu. However it was only when we sat down that we were told that this menu was not available and that we had to order either from the light menu or have a specific 5 course tasting dinner. If we had been told this earlier we would have probably gone out to another restaurant instead but it was too late to try and achieve this. Not withstanding that the food we had on all 3 nights was of pretty good quality.

Overall we were pleased with our stay and were glad that we chose the Hilton.

We stayed for 5 amazing days before Christmas 2013. The hotel was absolutely wonderful. The concierge (a Hector Elizondo look alike!) was unfailingly helpful and provided us with a free pass for the local buses which we made good use of. Our room was really comfortable with a stunning view across the city and the harbour to the mountains. The Vox restaurant was a special experience and we were told by several Icelandic diners that it was the best in Iceland! This is a hotel and a city that we will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and on floor 7 or higher.
