“Excellent service, comfortable stay”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

We stayed at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica as part of an Iceland Air package to see the Northern Lights. Our room was not particularly large (room 446) but was spacious enough for two people for 5 days.

The breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day, and dovetailed conveniently with the free shuttle service into the city centre. Whilst this only runs at certain times in the day, the hotel has a public bus stop right outside, served by 4 routes from the city centre. Single fares only cost around £1.75 (350ISK) and travel cards are sold at the main bus station. The www.bus.is website gives you all the information you'll need.

Tours and excursions pick up and drop off at the the hotel, so you get the comfort of a 4* hotel without losing out on the convenience of a central location.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean-facing room.

Your typical business hotel: clean and comfortable. About a 30 minutes’ walk to downtown Rekjavik although after 15 minutes, you are on a very popular street with tons of boutiques, cafes, bars, etc. In the morning and evenings, there is also a very efficient and free shuttle that can drive you downtown. Only place in Iceland for us where breakfast was not included. Wifi in the rooms is extra but you can use the 2 computers in the lobby for free. Nothing flashy but we’d recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights and we were pleased by the location and services of the hotel. Our room overlooked the main street, but it was quiet at night and we had our window open most of the time. Nor did we hear much noise from the hallways. You have to insert your room key for the lights to work but that is typical of hotels I have stayed at all over Europe. Our room was very clean, with hardwood floors and a Queen size bed, and more than enough space. We didn't eat at Vox but spent time at 3 restaurants nearby and all were fabulous.

There is free WiFi in the lobby which suited me just fine.

The location is great. We walked into the downtown core and back several times, about 20-25 mins each way.

We had a fantastic week staying at the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica in October! The room was spacious, the hotel has been renovated fairly recently, the Vox restaurant had one of the best buffet lunches I have ever had (including sushi!) and there is a lovely spa. Also the meeting facilities are up to date and modern and there is a shuttle bus taking you into town and back at no extra charge. The Executive lounge has a view over the water towards the mountain. If you don't have time for breakfast you can chose a few items from the shop, which I thought was excellent service! Staff were also very accommodating and we received a warm welcome!

This was my first trip to Iceland and it was beautiful this time of the year with lovely autumn colors of green, red and yellow! If you haven't been, you should go!

Stayed for one night as I arrived early and a booking wasn't made. Staff in the Hilton were excellent.

Rooms were nice and clean. Bar an food top class. One drawback is that wifi is charged in rooms. Free at reception.

The Hotel is great and the location is perfect. In the middle of the town on walking distance from all major attractions. We visited during the winter season and driving conditions are not for everyone.

Both my wife and I were at the Hilton Reykjavik. We informed the hotel about our Diamond status and yet, it was not honored on our arrival. It was, that we were forced to stay in the very normal standard room. That made us feel very uncomfortable.

The other nights got better but only after speaking with the front desk manager. I would expect things going better by the very beginning.
