Description: The Lobster House, located on Amtmannsstígur 1, has been operated since 1993.In that time The Lobster House has made a reputation for itself as one of the country’s most popular restaurants. The restaurant is located in the heart of the capital and is known for its comfortable and romantic atmosphere. The house was built in 1838 and its original look has been preserved, which provides the restaurant with its distinctive character. As the name indicates, lobster dishes are the restaurant’s hallmark (trademark). In spite of that The Lobster House’s menu is quite diverse and guests can choose between a range of seafood, vegetarian and meat courses. The Lobster House’s wine menu is equally diverse, offering a selection of wines from regions across the globe.

Food pretentious , waiter supercilious , portions small, needed to top up with food afterwards!
For a 'lobster' restaurant there was a marked lack of lobster on the menu.

Amazing what you can do with that small sweet nordic langoustine. These people are the experts. Great atmosphere and service in and beautiful old house right downtown. For lunch -the lobster soup!

Humarhusid is by far the best restaurant in Reykjavik - we were celebrating a marriage anniversary - the atmosphere is elegant well appointed in an true home -
I had the lobster - it came with 7 tails- on a board beautifully presented - Chef dressed them perfectly and as a matter of fact were the most succulent delicious delicate lobster I ever had - most incredible fresh baby leaf salad accompanied the tails -
The staff were attentive and professional and were willing to talk about the history of the restaurant - this restaurant deserves the highest rating world wide - congrats to Chef and his staff

Ate here on our last evening in Reykjavik as our guide said chances of seeing THE LIGHTS that night was very slim, so whilst others were prepared to go and sit out at midnight in the countryside somewhere far away from light pollution, we trotted off to this fabulous restaurant. What a lovely place, with the most ambience I have had in many a year. The decor was so warm and cosy, I could have moved in permanently! Wonderful service also, but the food! SOOO good and fresh and delicious I can't wait to go back to Iceland again for third attempt to see those evasive Northern Lights and have a memorable meal in the Lobster House. By the way, the others went trekking off and yes, were treated to a wonderful light show for nearly an hour!! Thank goodness the dinner made up for missing it, otherwise would have been very unhappy!

They may be mini lobsters compared to the Maine variety, but they are just as flavorful! The small size means that they are less difficult to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lobster Feast at Humarhusid. This restaurant has good décor and the service is
fine. The "Lobster Soup" is very rich.
