Description: The Lobster House, located on Amtmannsstígur 1, has been operated since 1993.In that time The Lobster House has made a reputation for itself as one of the country’s most popular restaurants. The restaurant is located in the heart of the capital and is known for its comfortable and romantic atmosphere. The house was built in 1838 and its original look has been preserved, which provides the restaurant with its distinctive character. As the name indicates, lobster dishes are the restaurant’s hallmark (trademark). In spite of that The Lobster House’s menu is quite diverse and guests can choose between a range of seafood, vegetarian and meat courses. The Lobster House’s wine menu is equally diverse, offering a selection of wines from regions across the globe.

Great langostines, great service, great experience. Had the Lobster soup, which is the best I have ever had and grilled langostines. Huge portion of perfectly cooked langostines with some Barley and garlic bread. Melts in your mouth and went perfectly with the bottle of Poully Fuisse we ordered. My partner had the lobster and oxtail and horse steak. Who knew horse could be better then beef. I also discovered that I like Pinot Noir. They offer Pinot noir by the glas that is to die for, a bit expensive, but worth it. All in all a wonderful experience and really want to go again

The lobster bisque was outstanding, and worth the price. The fish entree was simply but elegantly prepared and equally delicious. The restaurant has lots of charm and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We totally enjoyed our late lunch here. They offer a nice selection of wines that compliment seafood.

Great food, service, and setting. Maybe could have done without the whale on the menu, but otherwise a real gem.

Genuinely world class food. The starter I chose was Lobster & Slow Cooked Oxtail With Beetroots, Chorizo and nut bread and it was as good a dish as I have had in a long time.

NB, the lobster in Iceland are often called Langoustine, so are smaller and without the claws.

We're surprised that this restaurant isn't even rated higher. We found the food to be equal to Michelin level restaurants. Exceptional preparation, presentation, and service. The price is high but the food, given the general price levels in Iceland, is commensurate. Wine list is good...better than many in Iceland. We recommend this as a top choice if you're ready for higher than average prices. Berna took excellent care of us with very personal service.
