“Great food, pity about the service”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We are good steak fanatics. Coming from South Africa where a perfectly matured steak is always to be expected, we've travelled the world in search of the ultimate steak.
This steakhouse produced really good, tasty and well prepared steak. Well done.
It is a great pity that your waiting staff let you down.
We booked a friday night, 8pm. You weren't that busy, so I wonder why there was a problem?
We had to search "our man" out on a few occassions, specifically disappointing was that we waited and waited for the wine list, and then waited some more.
Anyway - perhaps this particular evening was one of those "blip" nights?? If it is a good steak you're after and not too concerned about service, then this is a place to go.
Perhaps the owners could jack up the entrance into the restaurant as it looked cold and inviting, the little passage to the front door - what about some interesting candles in hurricane jars?
We have never seen such a huge, tall pepper grinder in our lives. Perhaps the waiter was hiding as he knew he'd have to grind if he worked??
Pricey of course, but then this is Iceland where everything is pricey.
Overall, we left satisfied and if back in Reykjavik, we'll head straight there for our steak-fix. :)

“Fine dining”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

Just off the high street of Laugavegur, this was a nice find to celebrate my husbands birthday. Steak was excellent, as was the seafood. We chose a red wine to complement our meal and shared a starter. The bill was approximately £120 - expensive but typical for Reykjavik. Would recommend.

“Great beef”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Very good food and great service.
The entrance looks a bit shady but the inside was super nice.
If you enjoy some good grilled food this is a must visit.
And they serve you salt and peppar in a very special way, a must see that alone

“Best steak in Reykjavik”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

The food at this restaurant was delicious. It is a bit pricey (but so is every restaurant in the city). We ordered the pan fried scallops and tiger shrimp as an appetizer and while it was delicious, I was a bit disappointing at the fact that there were two tiny scallops and two tiny shrimp (especially considering the price for this starter). For the main course, my husband and I shared the Porterhouse steak for two and the garlic fries as a side. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. It came with a baked potato and some mixed vegetables. I would recommend ordering the garlic sauce for the steak it was a nice touch to the meal.

They also do not add seasoning to the steaks (they place a small dish of Icelandic salt on the table so you can season it yourself). This allowed us to be able to taste the great quality of meat. Don't forget to ask for a little pepper on your steak. :) This made us smile. (you'll see what we mean).

For dessert we ordered the Crème Brûlée. This is our favorite dessert and we have it in every country we visit but I have never in my life tasted Crème Brûlée as good as this one. It was the perfect consistency and taste. I would highly recommend it for dessert!!

I am not sure where the other reviewers get the idea that this restaurant is too dark. It was very light and fresh where we were seated and I really feel like the restaurant is no darker than any other one in Reykjavik.

Even though it was a bit pricey -I would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant. The quality of food is great and you will not leave hungry!

“Good food & service, but oh, so dark!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Apparently the owners think that making the restaurant dark is romantic. This one is so dark, it is actually a detraction. The food and service are both good, but the only, by the glass, house wine
( red ) selections are Malbec. While this is authentic, it ignores the many fine Argentine varietals that would have provided a broader selection. The prices are high compared to other steak restaurants that have a better ambience. I would rate this a 3 1/2.
