“Great place, great location, great owners!”

I stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. The location is only a short walk from the tourist centre and is just up the hill (50-100m) from the old harbour - a great location. The apartment was very clean, spacious and homey - it is just like staying in a large guest bedroom at home with your own kitchenette and bathroom. The owners are lovely people that are very welcoming. It is lovely a quiet area that is located in. When I was staying there, it was a full house and I didn't hear a sound, I could have sworn that I was staying there alone. If I come back to Iceland, this will be place that I stay at for sure. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a extra space and comfort while located so close to all the action.

We stayed at the Three Sisters Studio Apartments for three nights in June, 2011. Our flight was very late in arriving and by the time we got through customs and caught the shuttle bus we didn’t arrive at Thor's doorstep until about 2:00 am. Even though the hour was late, Thor was waiting for us. We found the apartments clean and comfortable and Thor was very kind and helpful. The rates were competitive, too. Without question we would stay there again.

We stayed at the Three Sisters Guesthouse for three days in mid-May 2011. It was our first trip to Iceland and, I have to say, Thor is a great introduction to Reykjavik. He greeted us as the van from the airport pulled up and his infectious smile was a grand start to our visit. He continued to be a kind and helpful host and we found the room(s) to be just what we wanted. We had a desk, a comfortable bed and a kitchenette, allowing us to spread out a bit, relax with coffee first thing in the morning (a key feature as we adjusted to the time zone) and proceed at our own pace as we explored Reykjavik and the surrounding area. This did not feel like a hotel, it felt like borrowing a friend's apartment. And while we found prices in Iceland to be a bit higher than we had expected (for everything) this turned out to be a very good and reasonable deal given the other options we had explored.

The guesthouse is very well located, just a block or two from the TI and harbor, easy to get to and yet outside of the main spin of the tourist area. Recommended.

My wife and I stayed here on our first night in Iceland and we rented a studio apartment whilst getting oriented before setting out for a camping trip in the southern part of Iceland. When we returned to Reykjavic at the end of our stay we also called up at the last minute (due to weather) and booked two more nights (in a different room). The owner is very friendly and helpfull. Note that there is no reception and when you arrive. You either have to call the owner by phone or press on the doorbell at the guesthouse (just up the street) which connects to his mobile. The studio apatments are roomy, clean and cosy and the beds are comfy. The bathroom is clean and in new condition. The kitchenette is no frills but has all the basics for a stay of a few days. Although the rooms are in very good condition it is obvious that the owner has slowly been renovating as parts of the corridors were slightly unfinished when we stayed there but this was of little consequence for us. We were the last tourist customers of the summer and therefore got discounted a rate of 90€ per night. In the winter the owner rents out the rooms to students.

Hint: if you are using camping gas on your holiday, the owner often has a collection of half used bottles for free left by previous guests.

Three Sisters is The place to stay for a great price. Large rooms, confortable, well furnished and great, great owner : Thor. He helped us with the car insurance during almost 2 hours by calling his own insurance and managed, at the end that we obtain the non-payment of a damage they the first refused to cover (although we paid for it). We were with our 2 children, 10 and 12, and they also adored the place after 2 weeks in youth hostels and huts. For not to much money, you can have there your own sweet home. As we were in the 2nd house of the guesthouse, we were very independant and free to come and go without any disturbing anybody. We recommand the place, even for a longer stay. The harbour is next to the house and you can find nice fish restaurants for a quick delicious dinner.

My friend and I stayed here to bookend a backpacking trip into the interior of Iceland. At first it was slightly difficult to find on foot - but the Icelandic language is hard to decipher for the Westerner so I don't find fault with the hotel's location. When we arrived we were heartily greeted by the owner. He was genuine and warm, just like the hotel. It doesn't try to be posh like other lodgings in Reykjavik. Rates friendly to one's wallet reflect that.

Our room was modest but with many amenities: economy kitchen complete with silverware and dishes, coffee maker and plenty of sleeping space. The owner was kind enough to interpret a letter I received from the Iceland Post Office and was a tremendous help in obtaining an errant package.

After one night, we agreed to spend our last night at the Three Sisters after our return from the highlands. The owner assured us a room without hesitation and sure enough when we came back he had a place for us. Again, comfortable and modest, as other reviewers say, a great base camp for adventures in the area. Both rooms were clean and cosy and it's true - the water does smell quite a bit like eggs.

Three Sisters Guesthouse is a quiet hotel in a quiet part of the city but mere blocks from the action. We had the pleasure of being in Reykjavik for National Independence Day and the whoops and hollerin' as we would say in the States were not in the least audible from our room.

All in all, a wonderful find. If you can live simply without superfluous luxury when you travel, go find this guesthouse.
