Reviewed October 15, 2012

We just spent one night here in a deluxe room. Included in the price is access to the spa (Sauna & steam room) as well as breakfast.

Rooms have a contemporary feel and ours overlooked the harbour. Limited free parking is available to the side of the hotel.

+ close to the centre & view of the harbour, room a fair size;
- sound proofing is not great especially between the walls, Breakfast was a little limited and the hot food was cold, the bathroom was small and the space saving shower door means the floor gets soaked, lack of hanging space (see picture)

If you are looking for a nice Italian for dinner turn left out of the hotel and walk up the hill, turn right when you reach the first street and you will find Curuso's slightly down on the left.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor with harbour view

This was the second Centerhotel we stayed at in Reykjavik; the other being the Centerhotel Kloppe about five years ago. Both had standard no-frills rooms but fairly comfortable. The Arnarhvoll had a great little restaurant and bar o the top floor with great view. We were there for a very crowded happy hour that seemed filled with locals. Went for dinner there another night and had the best tomato soup I've ever had. The Kloppe is a little more centrally located but Reykjavik is a fairly small town so the additional walking didn't make too much of a difference. We had asked for an early check-in ahead of time and were told no problem but when we got there, we couldn't check in for several hours. One of the previous reviewers mentioned the over-warm rooms and we found that to be the case as well--but it seems every place in town is overheated. We opened window at night but got quite a bit of street noise.

Stayed 4 nights in standard rooms and were quite satisfied (family of 4 in 2 rooms). Perfect central yet quiet location near the fabulous Harpa concert hall. Very clean rooms, small, but more than adequate for our short stay. The highlight was the wonderful breakfast room on 8th floor with panoramic views. Breakfast was good and plentiful although orange juice seemed more watered down each day. Staff were always polite and pleasant when approached but never intrusive. One of our rooms did not have a safe but we managed to share the one we had. Wi Fi and TV worked most of the time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would love to return myself one day, in particular to enjoy those beautiful views over Reykjavik harbour at breakfast.

We stayed at this branch of the Centerhotel chain for 7 nights in August, 2012. We had a deluxe room on the fifth floor which overlooked the new Harpa Arts Complex.

Pros:
- location is excellent
- free wifi
- free parking
- excellent breakfast every morning
- extremely helpful staff
- price (We paid 110 EUR / night)

Cons:
- corridors not as clean as they should be
- our room was cleaned daily but towels and washcloths were not always replaced in the correct amount

We've stayed at two other Reykjavik hotels and this is our favourite. We would gladly stay here again.

We stayed here in February 2012 on a trip to see the Northern Lights. The hotel itself is well presented and modern and the breakfast buffet was really good and available early in the morning.

Rooms were small (we stayed in a standard double), and so lacked a bit of storage space. Other than that they were excellent - good beds and fittings etc.

The staff were excellent; always happy to help and provide recommendations of where to go and what to do.

Would definitely go again!
