“An interesting journey through Iceland's history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

A well organized and intriguing display of Iceland's most precious historical finds. One should not expect the Louvre, of course, but you will not be disappointed. Multimedia information panels will guide you to a deeper understanding of the exposition. Particularly nice the entertainment room, where one could dress up like a Viking or a medieval nun.

“Great place to visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

well put together exhibits that helped us to understand more of Iceland's history. A quick walk from the center of town. Worth the time for anyone interested in history and/or a great spot to spend a couple of hours on a cold and wet day.

Ugly outside but beautiful inside, good overview of Icelandic history. Exhibits very well laid out. Good value for money.

“Interesting!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

We don't really go to many museums on holiday but this one had very good reviews so we paid the small fee and spent a couple of hours. It was extemely informative and well layed out, tracking the evolution of the Icelandic people from the Settlement to modern day.

“Well-organized comprehensive view of Iceland History”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

Not a huge museum, but century by century it examines Iceland's history through artifacts, multimedia pieces and narration. The focus is not limited to "historic events;" the social classes and social changes behind them are examined carefully and compared and related to what was happening in Europe and elsewhere at the time.

The audioguide has many stations (a few didn't work); there is also a special audioguide and printed materials for children.
