My husband and I booked this hotel thinking that we were going to be staying in 4-star accommodations, but this hotel was severely lacking.

Pros:
- Location! Can't beat it.
- Nice lobby and bar.
- Great shower in the rooms.

Cons:
- The room was TINY. I'm used to staying in hotels in Europe, which often have smaller rooms compared to US locations. However, this was marketed as a double room, with not enough closet space for even one person (and only about 5 hangers), one chair (which jutted out in front of the bathroom door), and not enough room for even one suitcase. My husband and I were living on top of each other for 4 nights.
- The bathroom door is frosted glass with a clear glass bottom (around a foot tall). Seriously! Not exactly a romantic vacation when you can see your significant other on the toilet.
- The lighting is incredibly poor. The room has a black floor and and black accents, but not enough lighting. We also had a light go out, which was never fixed during our stay, so we were living in a constant state of semi-darkness.
- The area is so loud and the hotel not insulated at all from the outside noise. Bars are open until 4:30am on the weekends - be prepared to have it sound like a frat party has entered your bedroom. I'm a sound sleeper, but the outside noise kept me up and woke me up several times.
- The closet door was jammed shut for over 24 hours - this was broken sometime when our room was serviced and we had to proactively ask to have it fixed. It wasn't until the next day, with our things locked inside.

Do yourself a favor and pay a little more to stay at the Kvosin instead.

The staff at the hotel were great and informative. The room was lovely and clean and the hotel is in a great location in the heart of Reykjavik. Breakfast was plentiful and a great way to start the day.

First, the staff is very nice. The hotel is in the middle of the restaurants and bars. If you want to go to sleep on weekends before 4am good luck. All I heard was booming from the subwoofers, and we were on the top floor (4th). Nice free breakfast. The room we had (410) had slanted ceilings and we could only stand up in the middle of the room. It was also warm with no ac and 1 small window.

Our second trip to Reykjavik and couldn't get into the property we stayed in last time. Also wanted something not quite so attached to one of the night spots. This hotel met the needs and we requested a quiet room away from the weekend partying noise. When we check in the room we were assigned was on the first floor and close to the street. Hard to avoid any partying noise in this city on weekends.
The great front desk staff went out of there way to suggest another room on the ground floor just off the lobby. Ground floor wouldn't be our first choice, but this room is one of two behind two secure doors off the lobby (which doesn't get noisy) and has a walled in courtyard outside the room. We took it and had absolutely quiet perfect sleeps here. Thank you Laurence for suggesting it. Ask for Room 011 or 012.
The location is just off the main pedestrian street, walkable from the harbour, Harpa, cathedrals etc. Also if you come in on a ship, like we did, it is walkable from the smaller dock in the old harbour.
Room was very clean, cleaned every day, and beautiful walk in shower. The lobby is below street level, and stairs or small elevator give you access to a beautifully decorated and room lobby area. Lots of space for those arriving early before rooms are ready. Large sectional leather couches provide room for several guests to relax or sleep while you wait.
Breakfast was very good. Hot and cold options, north american and european breakfast items. Endless carafes of good coffee also delivered to your table.
We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it as a great option for your stay in Reykjavik.

This hotel was centrally located where we could walk to lots of shops restaurants ...perfect location
staff extremely friendly and accommodating ; breakfast buffet was excellent with good selection than the typical only negative was extremely loud noise and partying going on all night long (Saturday) and difficult to sleep with window closed and portable fan on ( room located street side 1st floor)
