Really enjoyed our stay here a couple of weeks ago. Position of hotel was perfect and an excellent base for all our activities. The only downside was the noise from the nightclub on the Friday and Saturday evening until 4am next morning, fortunately we were aware this might be the case and reception staff do have ear plugs if needed. The breakfast certainly set us up for the day with a choice of hot and cold food ( and some delicious pastries!). Would definitively stay here again.

Great hotel just off the main shopping street but discreetly tucked away and quiet. Friendly staff modern scandinavian decor. Good restaurants nearby as well as the concert hall and harbour. Only down side is they like their lighting to be dim and be careful of the front step at night. It is lit upwards from the step so as you exit the hotel the step disappears. Good spa/pool/ steam room

We stayed for 4 nights in January 2014. The hotels reception staff are very friendly and helpful. They were very knowledgeable and seemed to have a good relationship with the main excursion companies and are in regular contact, which is great. The reception and rooms were ultra modern and clean. The location is perfectly situated just off the main street Laugavegur. A few reviews mention noise but we stayed Sunday - Thursday and always had a brilliant nights sleep, the rooms are cosy and warm (helped by the mood lighting/dimmer switches) Breakfast is amazing, with lots of choice of hot and cold fresh food. There is a bonus supermarket on the next street up from the hotel (Ingólfsstræti) which is very reasonable, be sure to try the Skyr. The rooms are fully equipped with your home comforts; fridge, English TV, tea and coffee facilities - just ask reception for milk / more supplies. The bathroom is brilliant with a power shower and all complimentary toiletries.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor at the back which was quiet and had no problems

I found Thingholt to be exactly as described. I won't bore you with details, but rather give you insights that I haven't seen. The LIGHTS…I was glad to hear that we weren't the only ones having issues figuring them out. I seriously was about to go crazy assuming they only light to a small dim. You must press the button…then hold it until they illuminate! My 2nd tip: The shower feels wonderful, however we found that no matter how we adjusted the curtain, we were getting something outside wet. Secure the curtain as far around as possible, then be ready to use a towel AND bathmat for the overspray. We also quickly caught on to opening our windows to release the steam and keeping the room from being overly stuffy. We kept them open the entire trip and we were even here in Feb. #3: I picked this up from some Scottish travelers and wish I would've come better prepared. They have a BEAUTFIUL morning spread, and you would be quite able to take few extras off of the buffet and pack your lunch for your excursion. They had made sandwiches and all. We just took a small jar and took 2 boiled eggs w/ us. It's such good, fresh, food that many of your excursions just won't have. Utilize the happy hour pricing. If you drink beer or wine, you'll greatly appreciate that these prices are likely 1/2 what you will find anywhere in the city. As for everything else, it was absolutely wonderful. Clean, well appointed and decorated. Lovely staff…I could've chatted w/ them all day. Wonderful lobby for hanging our and spreading out.

Room Tip: We had a room on floor 4 (the top floor) and on the back side of the building. That's what I no...

Got bumped to this hotel as the one we had booked was full when we arrived. It's a nice hotel and the breakfast and staff were excellent, but we stayed over a weekend and had booked lots of things to do, so had late night and early mornings. This would have been fine except that on the Friday and Saturday nights the nightclub just opposite was incredibly noisy until about 5.00 am. The windows aren't double glazed so we might as well have got up and joined in (both in our 60's so we didn't). However we had a lovely nights sleep on Sunday and the hotel is very central and ideal for all the Reykjavic sights and excursions. The rooms are a little small and there is very little storage space. We were on the second floor.

There is a spa here, but we didn't have any time to use it.

Room Tip: My friend and her daughter had a room on the 4th floor and didn't have as many problems with noi...

This was a very clean, contemporary hotel. It was perfectly situated within the city, making it easy to access restaurants and stores. The only issue I had with the hotel is that at night it would get a little bit noisy with the bar next door.

It is in the centre and you can walk everywhere. Literally less than 5 mins from bus station. Absolutely lots of bars and restaurants & a supermarket nearby. Very good boutique hotel and breakfast was more than enough. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We had a deluxe room on the top floor with good views of the harbour. Even though there is a lively bar opposite on Friday and Saturdays we still slept through, they do like to party. We would have been very disappointed if you stayed on the outskirts. If you want to be central and walk everywhere this hotel is a good bet. We were pleased with our stay for a short, touring and enjoyable break, would definitely recommend.
