We stopped in Iceland after traveling for 2 weeks in Norway and Sweden... so we were used to small rooms. Nothing could prepare us for the size of the room. No room for luggage and we were really on top of each other. The front desk was hit or miss. First day we had great service/help with booking excursions. The next couple of folks at the front desk were doing us a favor. Great location - we walked to everything in town and it was very clean. We were not there on a weekend but experienced some of the noise from the bar down the street others speak of in reviews. We would probably try the Centerhotel Arnarhvoll next visit.

We spent three nights in the CenterHotel Thingholt in December. We took the bus from the airport which took us directly to the hotel. Inside the reception area the decor is modern with ambient lighting. There are plenty of chairs and sofas to lounge around. Our room was clean and modern, it was cosy but no smaller than other european city hotels we have stayed in. We had a room facing the main street and we slept very well. We had a small problem with the curtains being broken and we couldn't close them completely but it was not a huge issue. The only other thing was the mirror in the bathroom is set back on the wall behind the toilet and isnt ideal for doing your make-up etc because its at an awkward angle behind the shelf for storage, but again this wasnt a huge issue.
The breakfasts were first class, the quality of the food was outstanding. The breakfast area is by the bar and the room merges with the reception/foyer area. the hotel has wifi and there is also a computer located in the foyer.
The location of the hotel is great, set back off the main street in Reykjavik. The city is easy to navigate and there are plenty of tour options located at the hotel or in the main street tourist offices if you hadnt booked any before your trip.
The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. We want to visit Iceland again, it was such a magical trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

My wife and I stayed here on a recent trip to Iceland. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional - always responding quickly. The breakfast was very good. The room was modern and very cosy and clean. The bathroom is a little small but still more very nice.
The location is without doubt excellent, with everything within easy reach. We would stay again tomorrow!

Spent 4 nights here for our honeymoon and loved every minute, from the boutique style room we had on the 4th floor to the friendly staff, great breakfast and happy hour spent having a drink in the stylish lobby prior to going out to eat. There was some noise from the street on fri and sat night however not enough to disturb us and a small price to pay for the fantastic location.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Centrehotel, we had requested a room to the rear of the hotel (as suggested by reviews on tripadvisor) and that is what we got. No problem with noise and a very comfortable bed, the washing and shower facilities were also excellent and the standard of cleanliness high. We had breakfast on a couple of mornings (excursions allowing) and were impressed with the selection available - hot or cold food depending on your preference. The bar had a happy hour (or two) which meant that prices on a decent light beer were well below London prices and great for putting your feet up before a trip to see the northern lights or caving etc. The staff were always willing to help and their direct line to the excursion companies proved invaluable when nervousness over a late pick up arrival set in. All in all a most pleasant and relaxing stay at CentreHotel. We would certainly consider booking again when returning to Iceland.

Room Tip: Choose a room to the rear, the front ones seem to pick up noise from local bars whilst the rear ones are quiet.
