Fantastic trail running along rivers, passing waterfalls, across glaciers and crossing rivers with competent and fun guides, Birkir and Gunnur, from Arctic Running. Can't recommend it enough!

a group of us traveled to iceland with the sole intention of running in some wild areas. we were on the fence on whether or not to find guides or just try to use some maps, luckily we decided to use birgir and elisabet! maps were purchased but even with them i dont think we could have stayed on course due to snow and the distance between some markings. birgir and elisabet were amazing and utterly hilarious! i can say with complete confidence that they made my trip to iceland significantly more enjoyable. the group of us that went run trails daily but navigation would have been incredibly difficult and honestly who wants to keep stopping to pull out maps and worry when your on vacation! i cant stress enough how fun it was to be with these two local celebrities! the friendships that were born will certainly continue to grow when next year we all meet again for a european trail race!

This was the coolest vacation I had ever done. Our guides, Biggie and Elisabet were extremely knowledgable, professional, flexible and fun. A few friends and I were trying to do some extreme running - and they delivered. We saw a concert on top of a mountain, ran through the city of Reykjavic, ran on a glacier as well as through rugged and non-touristy canyons and mountains. It was simply spectacular.

Elisabet worked as a weather woman for a local news channel and is extremely aware of the patterns to keep you safe and having fun. Did I mention she holds her own race, the Mt. Esja ultra marathon. Biggie is a friendly, easy going guy who has an extremely fun dog who ran 17 miles with us. They speak perfect English and can run long, short, whatever is in your comfort zone.

This is a must do if you like adventure!!

Fantastic morning run out to a local trail around Volcano. Highly recommend taking a run with the team whilst in Reykjavik and surrounds for short or multi day runs. Very professional and friendly team, really enjoyed the run and chat along the way.
Looking forward to coming back and explore more of what Iceland has to offer.

Biggie and Elisabet have to be two of the most knowledgeable trail runners in Iceland. For five days they toured three of us around the Reykjavik area, and then to Thorsmork. We were hoping for 50K+ a day of running, and they delivered with some amazing scenes. I've never said "Wow" as often as I did on this trip. We were there in late May/early June of 2015 and the snow was still ridiculously high, but they kept us on trail. Every day felt like a genuine adventure. And, running with Biggie and Elisabet, we had the "local" insight. At the end of our first day (6+ hours of running), they tirelessly asked us if we wanted to "go to a concert." Turns out it was a free concert near the top of Mt. Esja, so we got even more running in! It was brilliant. And they were both ready to go the next day.

Running with these guys definitely gave us a level of confidence as well - they know local weather patterns and were flexible enough to make sure that when a system was moving in on our second day that we didn't head into the mountains, but still managed to take us on some incredible "local" trails right around the city (we even got to share those miles with Hekla, Biggi's tireless dog!).

This was, easily, one of the best running experiences of my life. Seriously, I can't wait to go back and explore even more (hopefully with less snow next time!).
