Ideal location for exploring Reykjavik, the rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, happy hour 5-6, breakfast 7-10 good choice of food something for everyone. Next door is the tourist information office with very good staff.

Nice breakfast and prefect location. Very close to the harbor and Northern Lights Boat Tour. Room was average, we were on the second floor and had a view of 2 other buildings, so nothing too special. Front desk staff were pleasant and let us store our luggage since we arrived at 8 am and could not check in until 2pm.

We stayed at the Centerhotel Plaza for 4 nights from 5/3/14-8/3/14 on a short city break to Reykjavik in search of the Northern Lights.

The hotel is in a central location within short walking distance to the city centre, local bars, restaurants, shopping, the old harbour and the excursion sales office and pick up point. The location doesn't get much better and within a stones throw of the hotel are excellent restaurants not to be missed, such as the Restaurant Reykjavik with its world class fish buffet and Stofan Cafe which is a quaint little place serving great beer and coffee in what can only be described as a "cosy front room" style set up.

The hotel is comfortable and the staff and reception team welcoming and friendly. The reception area is warm and cosy and happy hour operates in the bar between 5-7pm, although seating is limited and it is a struggle to find somewhere to sit to take advantage of the happy hour prices!

The hotel rooms are comfortable and a decent size and the furnishings and fixtures of a decent quality. The heating is extremely effective and despite the comments in other reviews, it's was snowing heavily the whole time we were staying there and we were never cold once. In fact the heating was so effective we had to turn it down and open the window!!

Breakfast is excellent and plentiful and operates between 7-10 which suited us perfectly on both the days we were up early and out on excursions and on the days we had a lazy start. There is an abundance of hot and cold food including the usual coked breakfast items and also a delicious selection of more continental style food. There is a great selection of freshly baked breads and rolls and the home made cookies and flapjacks are delicious!

This hotel has everything and more that you need for a city break. We would not hesitate to return and next time will definitely stay longer. Thank you Centrehotel Plaza for an excellent and thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Rooms to rear much quieter.

2 x 1 night B&B stays on a short package tour (27 Feb & 2 March). Comfortable, clean (carpet worn on ground floor by and in the lift). Staff very helpful. Noisy first night (skate-boarders on the square – does help if you close the window!). Comfy bed. Breakfast good, homemade bread. Happy hour 5-7pm. Free wifi. Would stay again. Close to Restaurant Reykjavik.

We stayed here for 3 nights, upon arrival we were given a standard twin room, when I had booked a superior double through the booking agent. The reception staff said it was a problem with our booking and they had nothing else available. But after complaining twice and asking to speak to the manager, a superior room became available. Still not a double, but a twin with a mattress topper to bridge the gap between the beds. Room was nice otherwise, breakfast was plentiful but the cooked breakfast was fairly average. Be careful if booking through an agent that the hotel don't try to pull the wool over your eyes.

Room Tip: Choose a superior room if you can, the standard rooms look very dated.

We chose this hotel by location and the price.
Average hotel, low price, excellent location.
Room was nice but a bit cold. There is no parking space, but quite near is located common parking area which we used.
