I arrived at the Center Hotel Plaza at 8 am, way too early for check-in. The front desk attendant offered me to go in my room early and take the breakfast for 20 Euros. I wanted a shower so bad, that I agreed to the deal. Boy, did I not regret this extra expense! The breakfast was amazing, so amazing that I stayed in the breakfast room for more than an hour tasting all the different delicacies. Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Croissants, Skyr (Icelandic Yogurt), ham, salami, fruits, coffee, tea, fruit salad, various types of bread. Three large tables loaded with breakfast "things". You can literally eat your breakfast and forget about lunch!. The décor is very scandinavian looking. Glass, wood, and steel. The rooms are small but well furnished. The only negative in my particular case would be the garbage truck noise very early in the morning. I like to sleep with my window open, and the truck driver drove backward a lot with that awful beeping warning sound.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building not the extension

I stayed here for 4 nights in early October. The hotel is in a great spot, overlooking a small square and some local shops. The hotel seems to have a lot of package travelers, many who come in early in the morning, and the hotel allows them to check in early and have breakfast. I found the rooms to be just fine. Comfy beds, free wi-fi throughout the hotel. The breakfast was more than adequate. Buffet-style with lots of choice: different breads and crispbreads, cheese, sliced veggies and fresh fruits, apple and orange juice, hot and cold cereal and granola, and eggs, bacon, and sliced meats. What more could you want? Herbal teas, plenty of coffee, yogurt, fresh milk. People stream in and out, the wait staff is available if you have a special need, for instance, my friend can only eat gluten-free products and they brought out special bread.
The staff at the hotel counter are very helpful; the airport bus comes by automatically a few times a day. All tours can be arranged from here. They stored our bags, gave us directions to wherever we wanted to go. I'd definitely come back.
My only complaint was in observing some of the hotel patrons at breakfast: why do you leave behind food uneaten? It's so wasteful--this is Iceland, not some bloated Las Vegas buffet! Have some respect for the fact that you are visiting a Nordic country at 66 degrees North, where things are much more expensive. Also a note to the hotel: Please remove the paper cups that are optional for coffee. I just saw too many people helping themselves to coffee with 2 paper cups--one for the coffee and one to insulate it. What a waste! There are china cups for all to use.

Clean, modest rooms; mediocre included breakfast, BUT the staff...could not do enough for us. Got us onto tours in 30 minutes; stashed our luggage for late departure, could not do enough for us. Perfect location!

This hotel is right in the centre of the city - minutes walk from most attractions and in the centre of the restaurants and nightlife. Hence no probem that the hotel has no restaurant.
Comfortable rooms - though the single room was quite small. Very good breakfast and very helpful and friendly reception staff.
Noisy in the day as under the flight path to City Airport but the flights stop at night and I couldnt hear any noise from the nightlife so had a good sleep.
Most tour companies will collect from the hotel for day trips so a really good place to stay.

As the other reviewers state, this hotel has an excellent central location. You can walk anywhere - the Old Harbour (where the whale watching tours go from) is 5 minutes' away, and the Settlement Museum is a mere couple of minutes walk. Plenty of restaurants and bars around. The tourist information is right next door and a taxi rank right in front. Staff were helpful. My room was newly renovated at the back and was simply and nicely done; a large walk in bathroom that was bigger than the one in the Hilton Nordica! But the walls were extremely thin - when someone walked down the corridor it was as if they were in the room with me and I could hear a group of people laughing and chatting at 4am, either outside in the courtyard or in the hotel somewhere. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, but the set up was somewhat utilitarian - long trestle tables without table cloths, which you shared with others,
