“A perfect base for exploring Reykjavik”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

Baldursbra is located in a nice quiet area of the city yet you can be at the waterfront or downtown in just 10 minutes. It is right down the street from the beautiful church, Hallgrímskirkja.

Our room was on the second floor which also had another 2 rooms. We shared a bathroom with these 2 other rooms but never had to wait to get in. Having a mirror and sink in our room made it very convenient. The room was very spacious - a double bed, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser, a single bed (perfect place to rest your bags!), a makeshift closet for hanging clothes and the sink as mentioned. 2 windows provided lots of natural light and had proper blinds to allow for a nice sleep.

The best part about this guesthouse is Evelyn. She was nothing but helpful the entire time. She booked all of our excursions and took care of our transportation needs. She answered all of our questions and had many recommendations for shops/dining/exploring. We were given fresh towels everyday without having to ask. The breakfast spread is plentiful and delicious. She even prepared a small spread for us @ 5:00 am before we caught an early flight out of Iceland.

On our next trip to Iceland, we know exactly where we will be staying - no question! Thank you Baldursbra Guesthouse

My niece, her partner and I recently returned after a 5 night stay in this comfortable, cosy and warm home from home Guesthouse, Baldursbra. Hosts Evelyne and Phillipe made all guests feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always available for advice and help on places to visit, trips to book, car hire and even provided towels for anyone visiting the Blue Lagoon. I felt particularly unwell on two days whilst I was there and was given fizzy Vitamin C tablets, a litre of Iceland Spring water and a cup of well-peppered chicken soup to help me cope. Facilities for making hot and cold drinks were always available and the selection of eats available at breakfast time was of good variety and plentiful. The location of the Guesthouse is ideal - a quiet location for a good night's rest in the comfy beds but just a short stroll from the main shopping strip and the large frozen lake. I would return to Iceland and the Baldursbra in an instant - my niece and her partner are already planning on a return in June! Thank you, Evelyne and Phillipe, for helping to make our trip to Iceland so memorable.

We stayed in this lovely guesthouse for two nights in Reykjavik. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home and enjoy our time in Iceland. The breakfast was amazing and the lodging very clean and homey. It's a great and affordable option if you want to get away from the sterile hotel surroundings and feel like you are in a home. Highly recommend this place for your stay in Reykjavik. They are also very helpful with car rentals or booking excursions based on what you'd like to do while in Iceland. And the location can't be beat either!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights mid february 2014, and the owners were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely and bathroom was kept clean. We enjoyed the jacuzzi in the back garden and the continental breakfast was tasty. Evelyn even put out a basic breakfast for us when we were leaving at 4.30am on our last day. The location is fantastic with only a few minutes walk from the centre of Reykjavik. You feel much more part of a Reykjavik community with traditional buildings all around. Evelyn is extremely helpful with any queries about tours etc, and will suggest places to see in Reykjavik also. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family, and we will definitely go back if we are able to return to Iceland.

The only minor thing which I would say to others visiting is to either take some slippers or flip-flops as no shoes are allowed upstairs and the floors are well looked after and polished which does make them very slippery when walking around in socks.

I had a room on the top floor here for 3 nights. It was well kept and comfortable. The beds are fine and the wifi good (in all rooms apparently). The continental breakfast is nice with enough on selection to keep you going til later. The landlady is helpful and will book tours if necessary or just advise on the best places to go, etc. The position of the house couldn't be better - just a short walk from the city centre and in a nice quiet area. Take your shoes off after entering as no walking shoes allowed in rooms. I never saw any thermal pool as advertised but that may have been because I arrived after heavy snow and it was pretty icy the rest of the time.

Room Tip: Any room here should be ok.

I stayed at this guesthouse early January for 5 nights in Reykjavik. We had a great time here. The hosts, Evelyne and Phillips, are very generous and friendly. We arrived pretty early on the first day, and Evelyne was willing to wait for us for check-in. The rooms and bathrooms were always clean. The breakfast was substantial and delicious. I especially like the sild and the collection of tea! We woke up late one day, and Phillips was waiting for us for breakfast.

The guesthouse also has an amazing location, very close to everything, like 5 mins walk from BSI bus terminal and 10 mins to the main shopping street. Evelyne could also arrange everything for you e.g. northern light tour, blue lagoon, etc. She was always there if you needed help to call the tour company.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this guesthouse to anyone who is travelling to Iceland!

I booked this place originally because all the other famous big ones are full, but it turned out to be my favorite.

It's a small hostel runned by an couple, and they are very friendly and helpful.
1. The room is clean, with water sink in the room.
2. Internet is fast.
3. The kitchen is located on the first floor, and they provide the seasoning.
4. The house is very quiet.
5. They provided free breakfast with a lot of choices. ( oh, I love the icelantic yogurt so much). On Chirstmas eve, the aunt and uncle prepared a lot of snacks and wines for us to celebrate the Christmas together.
6. They are always there if we have any queations, and they were very helpful with trip booking and pick-up service booking. and they always helped us checking whether the pick up bus arrived or not, and make sure that we were on time for our trips.

Overall, highly recommend it to everyone. and i will definitely stay there again next time when we travel back in summer.
