Reviewed April 21, 2007

Stayed here as part of our honeymoon. Hotel is pleasant and room was good - wireless broadband available, location is good, near bars and restaurants. Staff are helpful. We didn't use the bar or restaurant but did go to the famous hot dog stand just outside.

I don't really have new information about the Radisson. The front desk was great....they upgraded us to a junior suite and told us where to get "fast food" (we got pizza down the street---it was thirty dollars for a somewhat little pizza and some Pepsi). We loved the location and the room. I don't care for the weird guys frozen into the wall in the lobby.....reminds me of Harrison Ford in Star Wars when he was frozen. Free internet in business center was great. There are free bottles of water in the fitness center. I would happily come back here again and again!

I stayed 3 nights Friday 16-19 February 2007. This was my 8th visit to Iceland in the past 40 years but my first stay at this hotel which has been built in the past 2 years. It is near the main post office, local bus station and the principal shopping district. It was just 50 metres or so walk from the harbour side. It was ideal for accessing the restaurants and shops.

The Keflavik Airport is 50 minutes by airport bus to the long distance bus station. Passengers are then decanted into smaller shuttles which deliver them to individual hotels. The fare airport to hotel was ISK 1200 (EUR 14).

The hotel is furnished and decorated in a modern "clean" Scandinavian style. My room (501) on the top floor was very large (I was told I had been upgraded) under the eaves. So it had fan lights in the ceiling and not windows in the walls - so there were no views. The large bed had two quilts, and the settee and armchair were at the other end of the room. There was a modern tiled bathroom, with combined bath/shower, washbasin and toilet. It was clean and modern. The air conditioning gave out quite a loud hum. One of two wall radiators did not work but the room stayed warm.

Breakfast was buffet style. For a hotel of this quality the range of foods and juices was modest. The orange juice was reconstituted and not the quality I might have expected. That said, the breakfast was adequate. It cost ISK 1500 (EUR 17)

Reception staff were exceptionally helpful in booking taxis and restaurant places. They spoke good English, as did most people in Iceland.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and would use the hotel again. I was not disturbed my night club noise, as some other guests appear to have been. I paid ISK 18,000 (EUR 205) per night (inc breakfast)

Went with the girlfriend for a long weekend away, I've stayed in Reykjavik before but not in the "101" district.

Hotel is very central, good location to downtown Reykjavik. Service was good, room was very nice and clean, we had an upgraded double looking out onto the harbour/hot dog stall (which is also recommended).

Rooms were very clean, service very good, the SALT restaurant underneath is fantastic and I recommend the lamb. I'd definitely stay there again.

Getting to the airport can be tight if you have an early flight so leave early - as early as possible, the coach to Keflavik goes around the local hotels picking people up. They do a "grab and run" breakfast/coffee service which is useful when you leave at 5am.

Stayed at the SAS for my 40th Birthday. Manager provided a free bottle of wine, which was very nice since you could buy a small family home for the price of a bottle of wine in Iceland. Staff in the hotel were all very polite and spoke good English. There was no bath in our room, which was a bit of a disappointment and the heating could have been turned up a bit, but these are only minor grumbles.
The bed was very comfortable and a good reception pack is provided.

A good selection is available for Breakfast. Rooms are spotless and modern.
The hotel is quite stylish with unusual human sculptures clinging to the walls. It is right in the centre of Reykjavik and very close to Cafe Paris.
Would definately go again!!

Just come back from Iceland yesterday and felt compelled to write a review on this hotel as I had an excellent time. On arrival we were ungraded at no extra cost ( I would recommend anyone to ring and ask for this if available a couple of days before - when you are confirming your room booking ) unless a very busy time of year , you will have first priority on an upgrade. The staff there , couldn't have been more helpful if they tried - in making dinner reservations , booking trips etc. also very talkative and seemed liked they enjoyed working there. As many have already stated - it is very noisy outside on weekends - though hey - if your one of them making the noise like us then it doesn't matter! If you want a relaxing break and to sleep then stay out of a city centre anywhere in the world at weekends! Room was lovely and clean and the bathroom and bed were very luxorious ! I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone , especially the younger crowd though as it is also situated in a perfect location in the centre for the best bars and clubs . Also on a side point - make sure you have a meal at the pearl - www.perlan.is - expensive but something you will never forget!

Stayed here one night. Facilities were fine - the room was in the eaves and had a very low ceiling which was slightly awkward, but the upside is I was allowed to check in early (10:30am) as the room was ready. TV was frustrating as it is done on an internet connection, so kept dropping out. The only way to reset is for the staff to come in with the master remote which did get a little tedious. Also, the skylight windows did not have block out shutters (which should be essential in Iceland), so a lot of light came into the room which made it difficult to sleep. However it was clean, bright and airy, large bathroom. The staff I found to be very helpful and quick to assist.
