“Right downtown, everything is walkable.”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

We love Radisson Blu hotels, and this one was no exception.

The breakfast was great (included, but may not have been worth it at the pay price), and they even helped us pack some sandwiches for our day tours. Right across the street from the hotdog stand, across from Harpa, a few blocks from one end of the main shopping area, and near one of the only microbreweries.

We had two different rooms while we were there, a smaller top-floor one with angled windows due to the roof, and one on a lower floor that was nearly double the size. Both were nice, with wooden floors and reasonable bathrooms.

Some people commented about the street noise. I don't know if it was the upper floor rooms, the side of the building, or the fact that it was February, but we didn't hear any noise at night.

The front desk was more than helpful, even booking return transportation to the airport for us, so that I would be included in the room bill, and I could get hotel points for the cost.

Let me preface this by saying I work for Carlson, but my review is impartial. Loved this hotel. The location is ideal for exploring Reykjavik. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. The hotel is two blocks from Grayline, which offers all kinds of tours. Our room, 403, overlooked the world famous hot dog stand where President Clinton once sampled the local delicacy. Rooms are different, but one flaw in room 403 is there is nowhere to hang a dress or long coat, but the GM was very receptive to the constructive criticism, and I think that problem will be fixed. Food was great, especially the breakfast buffet with its variety of choices. I loved that the hotel plays homage to its past as a shipping company building with its original porthole doors. Rooms were nicely designed with simple clean lines and great amenities. Highly recommended.

Stylish, clean, comfortable. Big rooms, well laid out, clean, well-appointed. Helpful staff. However, extremely noisy electric street cleaning machines and noisy revellers kept us awake/woke us up. We asked for ear plugs at reception, which they provided, and which solved the problem!

We were very pleased with our choice of hotel. Our room was upgraded on arrival and was large, warm, clean and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. The most impressive aspect of this hotel are the staff. All were very professional and we were always greeted with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and the reception staff were very helpful when we had to re arrange pre booked trips. They were also very knowledgeable about the different types of trips available which is very helpful when you are only in the City for 4 nights as we were. Location is excellent, close to everything. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Charming hotel in downtown Reykjavik. Staff went out of there way frequently to make our stay enjoyable. We arrived too early to check in; they kept our baggage and provided us a room as soon as one came available! Breakfast is great with many choices and a wonderful view. Being a tourist the location of one block from the touring company was also a benefit.

For a city visit of Reykjavik the perfect hotel. Everything on walking distance, perfect rooms and a fantastic breakfast buffet !!! One point : they promise you an early breakfast when you leave very early (energy bars, ...) but we didn't see anything. No big deal ... IMPORTANT : if you stay on friday or saturday night, certainly ask a room on a high level (4-5-...). There is a lot of noice around the hotel on these days because of nightlife...we where on the second floor and I didn't sleep much ... but perfect hotel.

Room Tip: On friday and saturday night certainly ask a room on a high level because of the nightlife around th...

Dear Guest.

It is great to see that you enjoyed your stay and our Super Buffet Breakfast which we serve from 06:30 weekdays and 07:00 on weekends.

I will be sure to look into the fact that we did not have the Grab&Run service upon departure as we have that set up from 04:00. Our guest comments help us in improving our service.
