Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel, Reykjavik
Ranked #29 of 54 Hotels in Reykjavik
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Arrived early spent the day at the blue lagoon on way to hotel, arrived relaxed to a pleasant and informative check in, room 509 was huge and pleasant, yes it has a sloping roof but the space was grand,
Robes slippers mini bar fluffy towels warm and cosy, the reception staff could not be more accommodating with info on local attractions and tours. Noise from revellers was short and brief but not a problem. Of all the hotels we dropped off at the 1919 was the most central for cafes restaurants and places of interest . Would stay again

We stayed here for 4 nights in October during the week and had a lovely stay. The staff were all friendly and keen to help. Breakfast was included and was very well stocked and fresh and a perfect start to the day. The room was very clean.
The one negative was the room was not the biggest for the 3 of us and the queen size bed kept on separating.
I previously read the reviews about noise and can honestly say I only heard a slight noise of drunken people outside on the Thursday night for a short period of time when I had turned the TV off and our room was silent.
My biggest tip would be to pre arrange a pick up from an excursion company as taxis are very expensive and cost us around £85 from airport to hotel. We got a bus back with Iceland excursions and cost about £25. (BTW the Reykjavik airport is not the airport you normally fly in to, you fly into Keflavik)
Would highly recommend and would come back.

Spent a very satisfying 5 days at the 1919. The suite we got on the 5th floor was spacious. Whilst the hotel do not have amenities such as pool, this is more than offset by the superb location. It is in close proximity to the many of the local attractions and cafes and supermarkets. Staff are warm and helpful. The interiors are Scandinavian "cool" and minimalist.
Highly recommended

The hotel has a lovely feel with nice rooms that are a good size and clean with great bathroom products and a good bed and bedding. The staff are very friendly both front office and housekeeping and helpful too.
The hotel is also in a great location between the Old Harbour and shops, restaurants and cafés and taxi stand.

I could not have chosen a better hotel to stay in while visiting Iceland. The staff was just terrific, always friendly, and very helpful. The front desk made dinner reservations and calls about day trips. Over and over again, my friend and I kept saying how great the location was. We could walk to whatever we wanted, like good restaurants, shopping areas and the boat for whale watching. The included breakfast each morning was a feast. There was a nice little work out room and business center too. Because the hotel was so well situated, there was a lot of foot traffic outside and week-end nights were rather loud. I would recommend checking about an interior room if you're thinking about a stay here. The beds were comfy and outfitted with feather comforters. The Icelandair flight from the US arrives early in the AM, so your room probably won't be ready if you go straight from the airport to the hotel. No worries, you can drop your bags at the front desk and go out for a nice breakfast. One of those famous Icelandic hotdog stands was just across the street too. I would stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room where you won't hear weekend partiers from the street.

It was an excellent choice to stay at this lovely hotel. Staff are really nice and friendly, helpful too. There was one day the housekeeper took dirty towels and forget to replace with the new one, front office staff quickly send replacement to the room, exact replacement (wash towel, big towel etc) while I was out for dinner. They monitor the day tours pick up too, and assured us they will call the day tour company at certain time in the case day tour company did not show. Lots of option for vegan breakfast which was a nice surprise.

Room Tip: Perhaps higher floor?

The hotel is located in the city center of Reykjavik with everything on walking distance. I had a charming room on the top floor with a good sized bathroom. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I got slippers and a bathrobe which is always nice. The breakfast was great with everything you could wish for. The staff was kind and helpful.
